Here's a phony one: http://www.mahalo.com/3g-iphone-reviews That site has a few thousand crappy reviews scraped from all over the place. It comes up on google all the time and it's something that I automatically ignore.

And people say Apple is evil... at least Apple has never put fuses like this into their hardware. If Motorola had any kind of market share, they'd take evil to a whole new level.

Yeah, that's nice, but telemetry isn't used in most of the situations listed above -- partially built buildings, inventory warehouses, server rooms, clean rooms. Sometimes it's just easier to discover a problem by having someone there to s

I don't think it's that expensive -- seems like it would be pretty useful in a warehouse to check up on things. Still cheaper than flying an engineer in San Fran to the UPS warehouse in Kentucky. I think people are assuming it will be used

You should tell people that the global chat room isn't anonymous, and that their facebook profile will be linked in the chat room. It's always bad when users have to find out from other users that they aren't anonymous.

So in other words, everyone in the world will be using the iPhone with their favorite carrier, and thus competes equally with Android, except for people in the States who will be stuck with AT&T for a few more years.

I think 10 years ago, the best I got was GPRS data on tmobile on my cell, but it was uncapped! I had a high end "gold" orinoco 802.11b card that only worked at 2 places on campus. I also bought a new low-end laptop that year, a Dell 366Mh

Well operating-system obsolete. You can probably still get apps as long as the developer targets an older version number.

my htc on tmobile was stuck on 1.5, I had to do a bit of googling and some command line hackery to upgrade it. I'm guessing most moms & dads are not going to know what to with a command line prompt, even with great instructions.

I think android tablets will have a problem of having non-standard interfaces. There are already point of sale machines using the iphone because all iphones have the exact same bottom connector so it makes it fairly standard to interface a

Your first 3 paragraphs are about screen rotation, which is something already fixed with a hardware rotation lock on the iPad. Email syncing is pretty straightforward, push the button to sync. Most of your complaints seem pretty benign if y

I hope adobe backports whatever they did for Froyo back to linux. Whenever I run flash apps on my linux laptop, my battery tells me I only have an hour left (out of 3 hours total).

So you're using prototype & scriptaculous to make a game. How is that easier than flash? How do I do particle effects using scriptaculous? How do I pair it with background music & sound effects? What if I wanted box2d style phys

Flash has been around a bit longer than the iPhone has, so no surprise there. Flash has been around since PointCast Network, if anyone actually still remembers that.

I'm using Chromium 4.0.299.0 (36335) on my Mac and I get that popup too. According to jeresig, author of jQuery, one should not perform browser detection, instead you should use feature detection. Browser agent is not going to give you an

Flash crashes for me at least once a day, on Youtube. I'm using a Mac here though, using chrome. I'm guessing the flash implementation for windows is significantly more stable than on mac/linux.

So you're able to get someone's facebook id and name? How useful is that? It seems about as useful as scraping web pages for random names & numbers. Might as well go to classmates.com and get a list of names there.
