The reviewer probably isn't aware of the tech bubble too. All the madness that is facebook & instagram, were fueled by arcane commands in a terminal. I remember from the first bubble that made computer science so hot, we had history m

Where is this GWT compiler for Go? From what I understand, GWT is for Java translation only, and it only works well on code that doesn't reference any third party libraries. It doesn't work that well on code that makes heavy use of annota

I'm sure the reason why users pick node is probably similar reasons why one picks ruby/python -- it's not for the speed. The language of the web is javascript. Until web browsers allow Go as the embeddable language, node will remain useful

ugh. have you ever developed stuff in XUL? It's not a great system. It's also pretty ancient, so there's probably cruft there support old XUL applications built in 2002. I think the main problem is that XUL is like HTML, but not. So peo

Most of the heroes of our time do things that are probably not worth it financially, but do it to set things right for future generations. I'm sure Martin Luther King was well aware that he'd probably be assassinated for attempting to brin

"work related mistake"? If anything, the CTO should be blamed here... it's not hard to do a sql dump on the hour for backups.

I think Joshua's rep broke even, or possibly slightly ahead. It shows that he's a passionate employee, and will go out of his way to make things right. In a work setting, he'll probably fix up that copy-pasta code instead of just leaving

Yes, but the public doesn't know, or care what the actual company policy reads. Even if the company was 90% in the right, they should still accept all the blame, just to appease the pitchforks. Remember that incident with Airbnb where a wo

The best damage control would have been to admit the mistake and move on, not try to blame it on the "unclear" company policy. The founder tries to make it look like it wasn't his fault, but ends up looking even worse. There is a silver li

I'm not so sure that his actions would be considered "disloyal" to his former employees. If anything, his former employees might be happy that their founder was called out on a mistake, to prevent the founder from doing other sleazy tactic

Well in this case, it looks like the employee was in the right. Just a few minutes ago, the founder (Somrat) admitted his mistake and paid Joshua the full $10k. Later on when future employers see this, they'll realize that the employee has

It doesn't matter which category the payment falls into. If the amount was specified in an email from a stakeholder, with specific guidelines, it's cash due. When lawyers make a decision, they're not going to decide which bucket this amou
