You can use the Apple family stuff to setup your iPhone as a child in the family. Then you have parental controls I believe let you restrict apps and domains the phone can access.

Had similar experiences with Netsuite and to a lesser extent Jira. So many layers of configuration options and hooks make everything super extensible, but it comes at a a cost and that cost is usually performance.

Some issues in his thread probably sound familiar to many here on HN. One thing that helped me tremendously is conversations with peers in similar situations to share experiences. With this I want to make myself available for chat or audio&

I have been doing this since 2013. Here’s my journey: Full time job at startup doing web/mobile dev and infrastructure. I’m the fixer on the whole stack. Lots of personal side projects after hours. 2013: started moonlighting after full

Agreed, my response was not meant as a judgement on whether a draw would be a better or worse conclusion. I was trying to highlight the broader context around the events and their outcome. In this case it wasn't immediately clear who w

That's the beauty of cycling isn't it? Sometimes the race-winning move is decided in a team car 150km from the line, and the next day it comes down to millimeters. This unpredictability is what keeps most viewers hooked to their T

Would you be so kind to provide a short high level summary on how the transponder tech works? I always assumed the transponders were mostly used for GC timekeeping in multi-day stage races and maybe help automate the initial results shown o

I have bought a device from them (Z18 which comes with their own Android flavor and the ratio launcher) and my personal experience wasn't very good: updaters that don't work, their community support board that is not very active,

Yes indeed. And I have to admit that my race days are more than 10 years ago before smartphones were commonplace. The fancy organizers had camcorders for this purpose, others audio recorders and some others just pen and paper.

I agree that sport should be sportsmanlike, but there is also an entertainment factor. These pro cyclists are public figures, paid by teams funded by corporate sponsors, cyclists have public rivalries and journalists pour fuel on the fire.

There could be a technical reason for it not to be available for custom domains (yet?). The page mentions that the header is set for all pages served by github.io, which leads me to believe they add the header on the reverse-proxy/load

Tree tab is a must for me when doing research. This morning I closed a few Firefox windows. The largest had 421 tabs, the others around 150-200 each. I might be a compulsive middle-mouse-button and new-tab user.

I assume Facebook has this requirement for usability reasons. They don’t want a user to receive a video through one of its many share features and then not be able to view it.

In which context? Services like Qobuz and Bandcamp support DRM-free downloads for your purchases so it is definitely possible. IMHO chances for DRM-free downloads from Apple are very very slim. But not zero.

I wonder if we will ever see a model similar to Qobuz/Bandcamp for movies and TV shows. These services allow downloading your purchases as DRM-free flac files.

This makes querying harder. You cannot use “is not null” or “= true” for where clauses with this. You’ll need to parse the string value. When going the explicit route I would recommend an is_archived (nullable) bool column combined with an

The problem can be managed somewhat depending on the language and tooling. I have used this advice for archived_at or deleted_at before. In the database it’s a NULLable timestamp column. In application code I would map this field to an Inst

You can do this with Rust using a combination of rustc, syn and a build.rs file. Then you can execute more Rust code on the parsed AST. In the JVM world annotation processors or compiler plugins can have access to the AST during compilation

Could you elaborate on why you find a real DB overkill for testing purposes? Typically you would have a set of unit tests which test your code only and use mocks for external dependencies, in this case you would mock Prisma. Tests involving
