What is the rational for the attacker spamming the relevant issue with bot replies? does this benefit them? Maybe it makes discussion impossible to confuse maintainers and delay the time to a fix?

I'm with you, but many people still question this. Here's a recent pre-print paper that was in the news arguing that inequality, not lack of supply, is the real source of housing affordability: https://osf.io/prepr

Deep in Gemini's setting you can disable its access to conversation history and user memory. I can see some advantages of this, but I keep it all disabled since it makes me feel like its behavior will be more neutral and predictable t

You're just pasteurizing the raw milk at home by heating it. But it's interesting that pasteurizing at home right before use still makes better cheese than store bought pasteurized milk. Wonder why. Perhaps raw milk is just superi

It's true, but for large extensions that make use of bundled 3rd party libraries, it's hard to examine the code to determine with very high confidence there's nothing malicious in it. I also tend to watch a new extension'

The real thing to lament is that people think AI==AGI, and by extension that LLMs==AGI. Which they definitely aren't. But the mistake is thinking AI is AGI, rather than thinking LLMs are AI. Which is just true, as the term has been def

Agreed that people increasingly interpret AI to mean AGI, but the academic use of "Artificial Intelligence" has been mostly consistent since the famous 1950s Dartmouth workshop that coined the term. It's not just a recent phe

LLMs are AI. Markov text generators from the 1970s/80s are AI. Face recognition software like FaceID is AI. Many people behind LLMs got degrees under departments that have AI in their title. AI is just computers doing things we typical

Agreed! The `curl ... | sh` is sketchy, but it's more obviously a security risk and easier to inspect. With install hooks, `npm install ...` also allows arbitrary code execution when you run it, but this is less obvious.

For many, installing something with npm is still easier. It chooses the right binary for your OS/architecture, puts it on your PATH, and streamlines upgrades. Their Github releases provides the binaries, as well as a `curl ... | sh` in
