That's a VERY high-end CRT monitor, not really representing what 99.9% of people had to use.

Tooling wasn't static, but improved over the years. The first games might have been checked paper sketches and might not have been so CRT optimized. Even in the eighties, nothing prevented a Nintendo game developing team from using Ami

Somehow I'm pretty certain that USA has made sure those are useless. ITAR etc.

SVG is rendered (rasterized) by the browser. The browser can then cache the rendered image to avoid wasting CPU cycles.
515.
by vardump 2y ago
SVG can be rasterized into a cache and just blitted or composited as necessary. No point to waste CPU cycles rasterizing same SVG image repeatedly.

Firmware definitely would not be on the filesystem layer or even accessible on the block device.

He wasn't talking about text, but the rendered image.

Investors have already known about this for a long time. Already priced in. Thus no reason to tank.

> The cost of storing the size of every allocation is relatively high Thus it would be great if we don't push the burden to the allocator. It'll also need to store the size somewhere, adding to the cost for every allocation .

I'm not sure what they cost to Apple (can they use standard parts?), but I'm also pretty sure other laptops don't have up to 400 GBps memory bandwidth like Apple's Max laptop lineup. So there's something they'r

Sure, although we were talking about $10. And again as a reminder, we agree that Apple's RAM pricing is ridiculous.

6400 MHz * 64 bit = 51.2 GBps. Apple's laptops memory bandwidth varies between 100-400 GBps. Regardless, I'd want Apple to have two additional LPDDR5 slots. The system could swap there or have a tiered memory.

"on a MacBook Air cost Apple less than $10" I don't think $200 is justified nor do I want to defend Apple... but where do you get 8GB with 100 GB/s bandwidth for $10?

Seems like a great choice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WpMlwVwydo I think I'll petition NHTSA etc. to make this song mandatory for electric vehicles.

People certainly had VGA monitors back then! The problem is not VGA 31 kHz modes, but old 15 kHz ones.

ECS and AGA could do non-interlaced 400 line scanning. ECS could do non-interlaced 640x480 (+overscan) with 4 colors. In the documentation, 35 nanosecond pixels. AGA same, but with 256 (or 262144 HAM) colors.

Amiga could do 384x240 (64 colors or 4096 color HAM) and 768x240 16 colors 60 Hz without any interlacing. Much, much better than EGA.

I remember wanting Atari 520ST for a moment. So shiny in the store. Then I heard about Amiga 1000, but it was too expensive. But those colors and sound! Eventually I had an Amiga 500. But it could have gone differently.

I didn't actually dare to subscribe due to horror stories I've heard about Adobe. Luckily Open Source tools have been sufficient for my limited needs. Like Krita, Inkscape and Gimp.
