I think that decision is ultimately made by the mainboard vendor.

That 2.8B is nothing compared to what China is likely doing. That's just the way China operates when it's about anything it considers strategic. We probably won't ever know the whole extent this is happening. Here's one

I wonder whether Putin is directly blackmailing Musk with Russia's satellite killer weapons. Not much is needed to make the whole Starlink orbit unusable for a few years.

BYD is heavily subsidized by the Chinese government. On the other hand, the Biden administration has done a lot to throw wrenches into Tesla's gears.

Custom fast stack unwinding sounds interesting. How’s the performance on ARMv8?

You’re not wrong, but how would you suggest to accomplish this? Replacing whole email infrastructure seems nearly impossible.

I'm surprised a Rust alignment bug is fixed this late. Performance degradation issues due to bad alignment is usually pretty obvious and somewhat easy to notice. I'm assuming vectorized (SSE) code is often generated for 128-bit lo

That’s what already happens (at least with TB, USB 4?). 10 Gbps networking. Although it seems to have really high latency for whatever reason.

There are significantly more errors occurring on those CPUs. I don't have much time now, but you can check details: https://www.google.com/search?q=14900K+failures

The recent trend with Intel CPU (at least 13900K and 14900K) reliability is indeed rather worrisome.

What leaks your location might just be a DNS request. Depends on the configuration. The site can include a completely unique DNS name as a part of a page. Something like "a5afbdeffe.attacker.com".

I hope we don't torch Internet Archive. It might even cause irrevocable loss of information and knowledge. Reminds me of destruction of the Library of Alexandria. [0]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Library_of_Alexa

33 MB file, that's probably docx, thus it's actually a ZIP'ped collection of XML-files. Could well be 200 MB uncompressed. Once all that XML is naively loaded as nodes, we might be talking about more than 1000 MB of RAM usage

Which is actually happens pretty easily. If you're using it professionally, the first time you use a day to debug something that turns out to be just ECC fault, you've lost the price advantage.

I had (well, still have) cat 7 in the house, while venturing into fiber as well. 10GBASE-T switches are noisy and surprisingly power hungry. One big reason for fiber is a home lab. Transferring large VM images etc. is so much faster. Abilit

I guess typical gateway drug is to get a 10g internet connection or 10g NAS at home and find out copper based cat6/7 is a lousy solution to actually make use of it. Surprisingly high latencies (compared to fiber, that is) and noisy fan
