The first time I went to Stockholm my expectation was for it to be very similar to Copenhagen. It could not be more different. The downtown highway area reminds me of some dystopian hellhole.

The problem with almost all alternative crytpo currencies is that somewhere deep down non-decentralized skeletons are burried. Either the protocol doesn't scale to more than a dozen validators, or there is some key node hosted by the d

I think when most people say NoSQL they don't mean S3 (even though it is like a database). In general I think - S3 - Redis/Memcached - Elasticsearch aren't really NoSQL databases in the Marketing sense since they fulfil such

I don't really get what's so special about this. But I am always surprised by how extremely scalable Redis is, scaling the stateless chat servers is trivial, scaling state is hard.

To add to this, we use Phoenix in a typical dockerized, stateless Loadbalancer- X Webserver - Postgres/Redis setup and it works great. Deployment is exactly the same as any other dockerized webapp. What OP is using is the "next le

I totally agree that the getter/setter scourge in Java is terrible but better languages like Scala or Python allow you to access fields with simple dot syntax and still inject getter/setter code. My point was that without having a

Do people actually build large codebases with the 'hash map first' approach? It works for scripts but I always find it very difficult to follow code that transforms a bag of stuff into another bag of stuff.

The problem is that you need to charge market rate, which the state then taxes as income. I would think it's unlikely to save you money. (If you don't charge market rate the tax office will either assume it's a gift and tax t

The sad part is that all these tax gimmicks are there not because the state wants welfare but because they want to put up a free market charade. You don't directly encourage additional supply but 'let the market build housing'
