I don’t think that’s realtime path tracing. It looks to me like they’re doing ray traced reflections and shadows and combining that with light probe global illumination. It’s cool, but not revolutionary.

The thing about path tracing that isn’t mentioned often is that it can take anywhere from 1/60th of second to 16 hours to render a single frame. The images that people associate with path tracers are usually of the 16 hour variety. Jus

That’s kind of like how you can reduce noise in low light images by taking a series of photos and averaging them together.

Apple said during WWDC that the change was made to support a wider variety of display technologies and scaling modes. It’s an odd choice considering they still sell the non-retina MacBook Air.

I disagree. Look at the airplane, it's clearly made in 3D software.

I have no idea what tools Apple used to create this, but it would fairly easy to recreate it in something like Blender (blender.org).

Currently the best way to decline updates is to install the Apple TV beta profile to your iPhone or iPad. It prevents the updates from being downloaded in the background and stops the "enter passcode to update" notifications. htt

They seem to be using real photos from their new low light camera which is commendable. Its unfortunate that their low light photos still look like crap.

That was part of Apple’s GUI lawsuit in 1994 against Microfoft. Apple lost all parts of the suit except for the exclusive rights to the trash icon. Microsoft was forced to replace it with the recycle bin.

The price of a new GTX 1080 Ti on Newegg is $700 above Nvidia’s list price. I didn’t realize things were so bad.

Dell is guilty of this sort of thing. Trying to price compare between “business” and “home” computers is a nightmare.

The “cut the baby in half” was Solomon. If you’re looking for stories in the Bible where David is the bad guy, check out 2 Samuel 11. It’s all about how David murders a dude so he can commit adultery with the dudes wife.

I’m personally excited for the crossover potential. The marvel comics were full of crossovers, writing standalone movies kinda does the source material a disservice imho. In terms of quality, Disney seems to be doing the best job when it co

I just tried using Animojis with the TrueDepth camera covered. After a second the frame rate drops significantly (to roughly 10 fps) and the character's eyes glitch out. I'm convinced Animojis are doing something with the TrueDep

There are some experimental 3D printers that deviate from the “build from the bottom up approach.” Here is a pretty cool 5 axis 3D printer: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w8Fl8L4yk8M

That’s a problem with most 3D printers I think. I usually get around it by printing multiple copies of the object at the same time. By the time the printer gets around to the first copy it’s cool enough not to cause issues. Obviously it’s a
