Completely disagree. Let's re-use the example in the article. You need to travel 300 miles. Which one is better? Live in the mid-1700 and work 8 hours a day for 12.5 days, or live in today and work 8 hours a day for 1.25 days?

Sure, but from a technical point of view I don't think the range of human facial expressions is that wide anyway. It's just movements of muscles.

My car charger turns on and adjusts the charging amp based on how much solar energy I'm getting from the sun. I know this will eventually be replaced by some 3rd party solution, but when I did it there were none.

Not to undermine your point about cleaning up plastic, but following your logic: isn't this similar to the antibiotics situation, just maybe on a longer time scale? The more you use it the less effective it is. What's the ultimate

You are being downvoted but I think there's some truth. I'd like to see counter arguments. One that I can think of is the difference in intent. Tether is for profit and the FED is to stabilize the economy.

Same. I appreciate her "hard" science videos very much, but dislike and skip the rest. Usually I have no problem switching to entertainment mode on YouTube, but her authoritative tone puts me off enough to not watch them.

Sorry, I don't buy it. I don't doubt that Amazon is a great company. But if you are asserting that it got there because of the LPs I find it hard to believe. Are you suggesting that had those people "had backbone" and &q

The Amazon LPs has to be the most blatant corporate brain-washing tool ever invented. Put aside the contradicting nature between the LPs themselves, they are almost exclusively used for the benefit of the company and at the expense of the

Yes. All surveys are biased towards people who are willing to take the survey. In the most extreme case, if your survey only has one question, "are you willing to take this survey?" you would get 100% "yes".

Why negotiation is necessary even if you think it's a waste of time: you: look, I really like the job. I won't waste time negotiating as long as it's fair market price. recruiter: sure, that's fair. [then proceeds to low

Is it really sad though? On the surface it seems the society heavily incentivizes smart people to work on "less impactful" things. But if every smart person becomes a condensed-matter researcher then obviously we have a problem. S

Yes, we should care about the environment. No, we should not be using less energy, but more. The way we use energy is the reason why it hurts the environment, not the amount of energy. I think this mindset is hurting our ability to inno
