You need bigger systemic change for that. Under neoliberal capitalism the optimal theoretical end state of any (for profit) corporation is to own absolutely everything and be the last one standing. It‘s just the nature of a corporation. Hyp

Yep. I used like 2TB last month. And that‘s with 2 people in the household. Granted, I‘m certainly a fringe user. But with 4K streaming, YouTube/Twitch, PS5 downloads, Steam, server stuff, usenet, video conferencing, WFM, etc. it kind

For me, I use a Shield because of the technicals. It‘s currently the most complete solution if you want dolby vision/atmos capable playback with local stuff (plex/kodi) and streaming services. The shield pro 2019 is also the only

Been using Kodi since 2017. it‘s running on an nvidia shield with the files being supplied via NFS from a Synology nas. Currently not using an actual media server like emby. It‘s been mostly rock solid. Kodi is more flexible in terms of int

Possible yeah. Though I don‘t see this happening for a while yet. It‘s certainly marginally more secure than not having biometrics (3 instead of 2 elements).

Ideally something you „are“ as well. Though in practice this might be overkill for most. I believe there‘s a new biometric yubikey in the works. A fingerprint version of the 5C NFC would be cool.

Exactly. It might for example make (business) sense for Google and Facebook to round up every single ML PHD and just keep them busy so they don‘t work for anyone else. That way other companies are dependent on them and they keep resources f

Historically, clubs have found homes in places like old cookie factories or power stations. Sometimes these buildings have been empty or in limbo for a long time. So either they’re being occupied by squatters or potential tenants are able t

Yep. I used to live in Berlin for a lot of my twenties and the club culture is really quite unlike anything else I‘ve seen elsewhere. I loved it, and still do (much less frequently though). The sheer hedonism is really something to behold.

The public cares about privacy, yes. But only as long as its presence doesn‘t inconvenience them in any way. People hate the GDPR pop ups. Most are badly designed (probably on purpose) and make it easy to accept all and difficult to customi

Well, it would still be linux presumably. MS would likely not allow them to use Windows that way. Or they‘d make it prohibitively expensive. In any case there‘d be even less differentiation from xcloud. Shadow does offer Windows VM‘s. It wo

Szenario: Stadia partners with Steam. Next day: Publishers start crying and all change their TOS to exclude cloud gaming like they did for GFN. Look what happened to Netflix. Publishers and rights-owners love to collect exorbitant royalties

This is probably what prevented the Stadia team from doing the same thing. Lot‘s of people saying: „why not partner with valve/steam for their library“. Because it‘s not Valves library to begin with. This was inevitable. No publisher c

As someone who regularly uses other e-commerce front ends, I find Amazon to be quite cluttered and messy. Also it‘s surprisingly difficult to quickly find a specific product.

At it‘s most basic, Microsoft‘s makes billions by enabling enterprise customers to remain lazy. If you don‘t force them they will never move an inch. They‘d rather pay insane amounts for support for decades old shitty software than to final

Am I missing something? Aren‘t you supposed to do this via end point protection these days? In the same way that big corps should deploy zero trust models. But I get it. Security and Privacy is really only about ‚compliance‘ and legal prot

I said this before, but I still believe Larry and Sergei removed themselves completely from the company because they couldn’t care less about the ad or cloud business per se. More so they might even view it as dirty. It’s a means to an end.

To add to this. In (old school) enterprise security measures seem to exist more for compliance and legal protection. Top management and especially shareholders care much more about being financially protected via some insurance or governmen
