I think that's pretty poor speculation. We know nothing about M2 and the i9-13900K yet. On top of that, responsible use of energy is exactly where we should be heading, not absolute single threaded performance. Also if you ever owned a

I don't think I'm the one missing the point. Drones are usually required to have a low radar surface and loiter far from any associated targets. The launch and landing points need to be masked. Can anyone realistically throw 100kW

I don’t get the thinking behind these sorts of products. What’s on the other side of the wall is usually made of shit and string. It’s like only cooking the last inch of a sausage. I know I’m approaching it rationally. Perhaps I shouldn’t.

Dropping fuel from carrier pigeons would still be more efficient.

It was built but that’s not the real story. Ignore the TV documentaries. The real story was the tower was built for information not power delivery. But Marconi got there first and made it irrelevant. Tesla decided to repurpose the thinking

This is optimist fantasy hyperbole. You can’t imagine physics into existence. And also the military is well known for spending on ideas that don’t even have a hope of working out whatsoever. We can use goat staring as a fine example of mili

I sympathise. A colleague of mine has an i9 MacBook Pro and it’s horrible and noisy.

I’m not sure why people get excited about this. Putting 92kW in for a 47dBm over 1km is comedic levels of loss. It’d be more efficient to move a 2kW generator over and send several people on laps with pogo sticks carrying thimbles full of d

Not a gamer but when I swapped my Ryzen 3700X out for an M1 Mac mini the temperature difference on my legs was the best feature.

I’ve been that guy. I hired a long wheelbase van here and ended up driving 6x DIMMs in a box on the front seat.

Got to say my employer has a shitty attitude towards this. Even if contributing fixes to components that we use as part of defects. I still do it. I have a separate non work github account and I just scp myself the diff and PR it from my pe

Yes aware of that but looking at it from an XY perspective it looks like the thing escalated from the approach. Regarding USB / TB external disks, they do support SMART but only if the controller does forward the info to the Mac. The M

I've done several migrations from Intel Mac to M1 Mac with zero problems. I did not do it this way. I suspect this is complicating the issue for no reason. Time machine backup to external disk. Turn on new mac, restore it. Job done. Ev

I don’t know about that. AWS makes me a hell of a lot of money selling solutions to people who don’t need it and could solve the same problem cheaper elsewhere.

That’s the WSL I’m complaining about. Got VPN routing issues and background process problems. Plus the hyper-v vswitch keeps killing my networks. It’s not a real Linux. I’m done.

It's not fanaticism really. A lot of us find it's the only computer that actually does a half decent job of trying to work properly and doesn't kick you in the balls. Well it does but rarely. Honestly I'd rather be using

Maybe, maybe not. I'm a Linux person. I run Debian in a UTM VM on my MacBook Pro and do all the work in that. Why? Because the host machine sucks less at all the desktop stuff that Linux is horrible at and the VM wins at all the server

Worth pointing out that SSR scales better for huge surface area applications on very low resource endpoints like Citrix etc. Consider LOB enterprise applications. I’ve worked on ones with 700+ logical endpoints. A few chrome or edge tabs op

Try running background processes and services or routing reliably over a VPN with working DNS and you will see what I mean. Also there’s the whole hyper-v bridge switch mess which tends to break all the other hyper-v stuff once every 6 mont
