Many bay area law firms work for free for a while if they like your idea. They also hook you up w/ angels and VC's b/c they're not going to get paid if they don't. Ours have given many startup workshops where they bring in industry ninjas

I think this is a great idea and I can relate. I was a wayward youth. I never did anything serious but I was constantly on the wrong side of the law and my success / failure rate was pretty impressive. Though it's not as bad anymore thin

Entirely possible that my previous company would have never lasted had they not been bought. Perhaps those opposing internal forces would be too much to bear. But it did work for a while.

Yeah, for whatever reason it doesn't feel right. If you're headed to / live in the bay area, drop me a line and we can have a beer. As far as your transition goes, congrats! You'll miss the epic nature of your previous projects but you w

I used to work for a defense company that eventually got bought by a mega defense company. It was ~3000 people in various parts of the country and it was started by a man who deeply believed in the power of the entrepreneurial spirit. It

For some reason I always associate the 'z' in place of an 's' as pretty juvenile slang (though funny its right place.) You'd be surprised, there are tons of good names still out there. This is probably not one, but may be a good jump off

I know domain-names are tough to come by these days, but I just don't dig on slang mis-spellingz in an edumacational site. You feel me cuz?

Agreed. It really depends on the kind of travel. Watching other people commute is not mind expanding. That said moving somewhere totally different and working there for a year is.

I think the best part is the mouse gestures. It doesn't actually add any functionality that you didn't have before but it makes the whole experience more organic and you forget you're using a computer. That's what apple does right. This m

I wasn't criticizing it. The Yugo's reputation as a POS was at least partially undeserved. As great as it is that poorer families will get cars, I seriously doubt its long term reliability.

I like the site. I just watched a few interviews and they were all above average. I'll definitely come back. But I have no idea how it will scale if they have to conduct every interview.

I really enjoyed this article and I think he's largely right. Pride (thar) is the most overlooked variable in geo-politics. But he leaves out an important detail. The US provides much of the defenses for Europe and almost all of them for

Per this idea, shorts on the insurance companies dealing with the WTC were trading at 30x their usual volume in the days leading up to 9-11. So the WTC was destroyed, insurance companies took a bath and whoever shorted their stock became q

When I took electricity and magnetism I was on the rocks at E school. I decided that rather than learn the material I would memorize problems to pass tests and save time. I ended up doing very well in the class but I didn't learn a thing.

I think this is a really good point. The first liquid fueled rockets didn't fly nearly as high as solid fuel ones either. That said the handful employees I know at google use MS office. That seems odd to me.

When I was at MegaCorp the smartest guy I knew (photographic memory, ninja puzzle solver) thought that users should be required to pass a test to use OUR software! His rendering engines were amazing and his UI's were a disaster.
