Regarding gitlab performance: I moved from using bitbucket, first own servers and later SaaS to gitlab.com SaaS in early 2018. I cannot say anything else than gitlab performance and UI being much better. I was permanently complaining about

IIRC 3.11 had no process isolation and the IP stack was an afterthought. So every application bug could crash or hang the whole system. And networking problems could freeze everything. It's rather unlikely that something complicated li

I remember it hanging regularly. Maybe not every day, but several times a month I would guess. Of course it depends on what software you are running. I remember running mostly Humingbird eXceed X-Windows server to access our Unix workstatio

An administrator is updating drivers? So maybe not a developer job at all, updating means installing not coding? And the Windows 3.11 on the train has not decent networking or remote maintenance system it needs to be done manually somehow?

I don't think such EU regulation exists. I transferred my number from one operator to a competitor recently. There was a one week (I believe) warning period that the transfer was announced, but could still have been cancelled. The old

Yes, I remember reading pretty negative comments about it. Don't remember what the complaints where about exactly. Bad license, i.e. GPL compliance? Bad support? (Why would you pay for Linux if not for support?)

Not a real expert with those systems, but I have used both. I believe buildroot is much smaller (as in much less binaries can be built) than Yocto. Yocto has its learning curve, but there is a lot readily available and you can do a lot more

I understand the backend is still somewhat limited. After Altman was fired (IIRC) when HN got 1000s of comments within no time, dang asked everyone to logout and login again, to make life for the poor machine a bit easier. So besides limite

Certainly not forever, but maybe a couple of years. At work we use Sierra Wireless modems which are only 3G + 4G. So in practice only 4G in many countries already now or in a couple of months. The Netherlands close down 2G but keep 3G. (I a

If you are limited to fast forward merging only one of your authors can merge. The second one needs to rebase and their updated MR will go through CI again, now on top of the first author's commit that has already been merged.
