Yes because it produced the opportunity to do good. At the time of publication it couldn't be known whether good would be done or not. You can't make moral judgements from a viewpoint that assumes knowledge of the future.

Well this is a blast from the past! I remember when this came out. At the time JS was mostly used for image rollovers and form validation, so this was an eye-opener for many developers.

I think a lot of the merchant adoption is driven more by marketing than anything; newegg will get a spike of sales from enthusiastic bitcoiners because of this.

I was going by the number of wallets & some of the repo stats. You're right though, it's not gaining consumer adoption, but it is gaining merchant, infrastructure and developer interest.
