I think OP just found a really well done C file. You can definitely see many famous projects on GitHub, where even though the code is logical , you can't help feel it's a bit all over the place. cpython isn't all sun and ros

Games and films are both an exercise in project management. Films are an exercise in getting everything you need in your 70 or so days of filming. The days you've rented the exorbitantly expensive cameras, trailers, lights, etc. Games

The difference is that, having worked in the industry, I can say that film directors are given exactly the power they are advertised as having. The film industry has learnt through many trials and errors it has to happen this way. Software

I find the presence of the "auteur" is valuable because it's a signal to people. When there's a single leader who's highly motivated to do critically acclaimed work, it signals to talent that this is a project aimed

My experience is the opposite. I've seen many extraordinarily talented people who got into this field originally because of the dream.

My issue is that I've seen people attempt to do these things. And fail miserably. One project I've worked on, something like 5-10 out of every 200 people successfully misspelt their own name in text forms. Non-professionals c

I'm unfamiliar with the term GP. However, what you've said is exactly right. A tech lead codes less, but they directly contribute to producing the engineering artifact. They are an "actual contributor with direct responsibili

Management and architecture roles are essentially interchangeable. "People who go to meetings and don't directly contribute to the product." Aka communication overhead. I don't think it's about job titles. It'

Yeah exactly. However, what I'd say is that a short launch from rest is an even more obscure use case than the one numpy supports. numpy has made the correct compromise IMO, optimizing for long lived programs and notebooks.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Nana and Papa are not locksmiths. Nana and Papa still deserve to have a front door to their house that can't be lockpicked. Normal people, who have other interests in life than configuring technology, sh

Isn't Numpy about making things go fast? People who expect things to go fast want it all cached up front, for very obvious reasons. Seems straightforward.

Moving senior engineers into management is the smart thing sadly. My experience with F500 companies, doing anything causes an incredible amount of grief. The most productive thing for seniors IS stopping coding. Going to meetings is the onl

It's also. Schools just plain old don't have much money. Big tech has an advantage going into schools because schools LOVE end to end contracts that do everything. No other vendors but Google and Microsoft are willing to fight ove

Ask.moe is the opposite of what consumers actually need. Consumers don't need another monetization model exploiting their web search. They need a distinct web index/crawler infrastructure that bypasses SEO.

You need roads to move irregularly shaped construction equipment. The solution isn't to remove roads. The solution is a London style congestion tax. Which planning economists have cried out for, for ages.

This is due to the different vision of what engineers/researchers and consumers want. Researchers/Engineers want bottom up progress. They place incremental development at the heart of their system. Partially since researchers h
