I've seen dolls' tea parties that were absolutely violent when I was a kid, with the dolls ending up insulting each other and/or fighting.

OpenStreetMap keeps a collection of tags for each node, including "official names," so in that sense it does include records of these arbitrary renamings, but there are rules about naming things and to solve disputes/edit w

I agree that HN is not the place for that, but on the other hand a lot of his policies have very real effects on a lot of people, so not everyone can afford to ignore him. And while this one policy doesn't really impact anyone, it does

I don't see how that correlates, and that's already pretty much what they do anyway. The reporter's issue wasn't that it didn't get fixed (it did), but that it wasn't given a CVE.

Why do people "break the law" to come to the US, and how do their coming affect you negatively? And again, H1-B is not an immigrant visa, I don't see why you're talking about it here.

I don't see how any of this is reasonable. I've heard people say stuff like "I'm not against immigration but they should come through legal means," so how does preventing people from accessing those legal means help

I obviously don't know about that person's mom, but a lot of hosting platforms and blog providers will do that for you if you don't want to do it yourself.

I know my office computer isn't very powerful, but holy lag batman! I get between 1 and 10 FPS on that website.

Using the website means the photos are backed up in the cloud which is precisely what they don't want. And in the first place, you shouldn't have to use an ad blocker to turn off something that you should be able to turn off with

That's a cool idea for a game, but the UX feels quite unintuitive and unpolished to me which discouraged me from playing past the first couple of levels. A few suggestions, if I may: - You should be able to drag/drop elements from

Offloading your own healthcare to a LLM is a thing, forcing that decision onto a child is another altogether. I really hope your child never has serious health issues...

I'd like to point out the irony of that blog post checking all the boxes of LLM-generated text, and I'm surprised I don't really see anyone talking about it here. Did Tim Ferriss (who's supposed to be an author) use a LL

Calling LLMs "bullshit machines" is a reference to a 2024 paper [1] which itself uses the concept of "bullshit" as defined in the essay/book "On Bullshit" by Harry G. Frankfurt [2]. The TL;DR is that LLMs

> It was essentially trained by us to be like us, it's partly human I disagree with that, at best it's a digital skinwalker. I think projecting human intentions and emotions onto a computer program is delusional and dangerous.

Are you seriously equating anti-LLM policies to discrimination against actual people?

You're misrepresenting both what the article says and what I wrote. The article explicitly mentions that the jobs aren't clearly labeled so they couldn't weigh their options beforehand, that concerns raised by the workers are

I really don't think it's fair to minimize someone's struggles just because their situation could be worse. Is only the most miserable person on the planet (by what metric anyway?) allowed to complain about their condition? I

It's good that you warned them in advance, but I don't think "there are much worse things they could be doing" really is a reason to discard those who are hurt by this as "snowflakes" and the content they'
