I think people get scared and then panic. Not many folks are used to being around a person who is bleeding from a stab wound. I was walking home through a park and saw a girl who was slumped over and it looked like she was dead. My heart

I just realized it’s really easy to upvote a comment accidentally while scrolling on my phone with my left thumb (I’m a lefty). But what the heck, I like that joke.

I guess you couldn't call it underrated (93% rotten tomatoes) but Vast of Night was my favorite sci-fi movie I saw this year.

This is really high up on my list too. I came in with the same preconception about him that you describe. It was inspiring to see how he changed throughout the book.

On the Road. Reading that gave me the kick I needed to get out of my home town, live in other places, join Peace Corps, and question my status quo.

I'm really reluctant to talk to strangers, but when I do... I use triangulation, where you don't talk about yourself (a stranger doesn't care) and you don't talk about them (it makes them uncomfortable), but instead you

For me: time for finals and, oops, I didn’t attend a single class and I have no idea what the final will be about. Maybe this dream is due to the fact that I missed at least half of all my classes because of basketball at the rec center.

I just tried that and it resulted in a black screen. I suppose there is more to using that video driver than just that line in a nix configuration?

Thanks for pointing out mitchellh/nixos-config. Do you have a config published for nixos with UTM? I’m having a heck of a time getting the screen resolution and font sizes where I want them and I’m kind of lost.

I like this. My 'bad' mental model is: In the beginning there was an infinite amount of space and somewhere within that space the Big Bang happened. The universe is all the matter and energy produced by the Big Bang and that uni

Let's say the universe is 14 billion years old and the galaxies in this image are 13 billion years old. The largest the universe could have been at the time is 2 billion light-years across if the universe expanded at the speed of lig

What kind of mill did you get? I've been interested in one but I don't have that much space and I've heard that benchtop mills are not that useful, I hope that's not true since it would be my only option.

I worked at a national lab for 5 years and loved it, but I know exactly how you feel about the negative parts. I left and ended up at an ad-tech company and although I didn't like our mission at all, enjoyed the job just because of all

Even that site, though, feeds into audiophile irrationality. The DAC reviews, for example, throw a bunch of measurements at you, but there is no way a human could hear the difference in the best and worst DAC.

At 48 I bought a TIG welder. It was difficult at first, but now I can weld steel, aluminum, and stainless and it usually doesn't look like crap. It's very fun. Then last year at 49 switched from right handed to left handed guitar
