Wren is great, I participated in the community for a while but then got on to different things. Glad to see it is still going strong.

The problem here is not that an unhappy spouse will cause the employee to leave, but rather that the author makes the assumption that the employee will be male, and that the male will have a female SO.

My cynical opinion is that, unfortunately, "trump stories" == "clicks/viewers" == "more ad revenue", to the point where no news organization can afford to _not_ cover every ridiculous story about Trump.

I disagree, I believe there would definitely be effects to freedom of the press and free expression. Trump's opinion of the press is well-documented[1], as well as his opinion on free speech[2][3]. 1: http://www.politicususa

Flask is my favorite tool for writing web apps in python. Django is nice, but I like the idea of building a framework up around the application, instead of shoehorning an application into a framework, and Flask lets you only bring in the pa

I think the conflict here is that, for the "non-IDE" programmer, Rust's tooling is best-of-class (IMO). If your idea of an ideal programming environment is running vim/emacs/sublime/atom and maybe a terminal, R

Any decent self-defense instructor will tell you that the best way to win a fight is to not get into a fight at all. So why do something to encourage violence? Let's say you do get a gun, you go to a shooting range, you get good at sho

no, you can have "trait objects" in Rust, which are boxed and use dynamic dispatch instead of static dispatch, but they lose the original type (type erasure -- another similarity with java :)), so they aren't true generics. F

I have mixed feelings towards unions. I grew up just outside of Flint, MI, so the UAW was a big part of my life (though my parents were not GM workers, so it was not as big a part of my life as it was for my friends). I am in favor of union

I mostly agree with this. As someone born in 1983, I am usually grouped in with the "Millenials" (Back in my day we were "Generation Y!"). But when I see what the stereotypical characteristics of a "Millenial"

I agree with you on 1), I much prefer `print(..., file=sys.stderr)` to `print >>sys.stderr, ...`. For 2), though, I have always used auto-inserting parens in my vim, so I never really experienced any pain w.r.t. parentheses. I can see

Genuinely curious, why do you prefer `print` to be a statement rather than a function? I've heard a lot of criticisms of Py3, but this is the first time I've heard this one.
