I mean, it looked awful compared to what I run on my PC, but considering as well that it was running using Rosetta I thought it was genuinely quite impressive.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, but you've also summarised why I think Apple should genuinely be concerned about losing marketshare amongst developers now that WSL2 is seriously picking up traction. I started using my hom

To be fair in the UK Macs are absolutely dominant in this field.

Indeed and I think it's where the future of the Win32 desktop is. To be clear, not Windows as a whole, but consider how Microsoft suggested not too long ago that they planned to deprecate Win32 eventually (via Windows 10 X) and render

Out of curiosity, what lead you to switch back?

Can confirm a lot of developers seem to be going to WSL lately, including myself.

Not directly, no, but it's an excellent reflection of the declining software quality and attention that the Mac is starting to get from Apple...

Indeed. Been using Macs since 2006 but switched back to Windows late last year after being fed up with the declining quality of Mac software, and the lackluster hardware options. Speaking to friends suggests that I'm far from the only

Honestly, I don't think that many will. Back then Mac software support wasn't nearly as good as it is now - I think Apple is in a much better position to drop x86 support.

I'm mostly just impressed by how many improvements they've made to their UI since hiring Tantacrul.

From my perception the power users already left years ago. It's just that with WSL they're very slowly starting to come back.

If memory serves the group policy setting does work but only on the Enterprise version of Windows 10.

All you need to do is enable full keyboard access in System Preferences -> Accessibility and it'll work.

Well it depends on your use case. If you're using WSL to develop web apps then storing it all in WSL is fine, but if you want to use Linux tools to process a load of files in your Windows drive then it's not quite as smooth sailin

Yup - all works now. If I start rails server I can access localhost:3000 from Firefox on windows, for example.

I must say WSL2 has genuinely been huge for me, to the point where I've finally been able to ditch macOS for a desktop with a Ryzen CPU. Honestly it's mindblowing how far Windows has come - if I were Apple I'd genuinely be sc

Indeed, I had been feeling frustrated with Apple for a long time before finally giving in and building a Ryzen-based desktop. Honestly, I won't say the transition has been entirely painless - it does take time to adjust to a new operat

That and why not allow null for the foreign key constraint and set it to nullify upon deletion? Or indeed, anonymise data.

Definitely try WSL2, it's a huge improvement over WSL1 and it's finally at the point where I can honestly say it's usable for what I need it for.

Genuinely really tempted to try this. Should fix any of the issues with AMD compatibilities as well...

I will say I consistently get better benchmark scores on CPU in macOS than Windows, but anything that involves the GPU is hilariously poor on macOS compared to Windows.

To be honest quite a few apps don't seem to play nicely without the Intel-specific instructions present. REAPER won't run at all, Cubase crashes unless you remove the surround panner VST, Pro Tools would crash on launch last time

I think the truth is it really depends on your employer. I worked for one place that actively monitored and even recorded people's screens fairly frequently, and others where they honestly don't care in the slightest.

People also seem to be interpreting the line "eager to help Apple deliver great drivers" as Nvidia having new drivers ready to go, which I strongly suspect isn't the case.

Can't say if this is still the case but when I had a MikroTik Routerboard by default it allowed everything through on IPv6.

I'm honestly impressed that they thought so in depth about these things. That said, I'm of the opinion that a clipboard manager should be a standard part of an OS and would arguably solve this problem.
