Quite possibly - I was a huge Apple fan who's now using a PC because I was fed up with the lack of viable options for me.

You'd think so and I really doubt it's as profitable as people suggest but even just looking at Amazon you can see many of the exact same products you'd find on AliExpress for far higher prices.

I find it worrying that the side effects of leaving Mullvad enabled are that the keyboard takes longer to wake from sleep. What the hell is going on here?

My suspicion is because they decided there was a possibility of a malicious app trying to intercept / block the connections.

Same thing in the audio engineering world. It’s crazy how quickly it’s pivoted from Mac to PC in such a short timeframe.

I don't disagree that the web was basically built on PHP in 2005, but in 2020 that isn't really the case anymore.

Genuinely surprised to hear that - running a Ryzen 9 3900X on Windows 10 with HyperV and it's been rock solid for months.

It is but it's an incredibly well integrated VM that's transparent to the user. I'm genuinely very, very happy developing on Windows with WSL2.

To be fair I'd imagine the people writing the theming support probably aren't the same people writing the compatibility layers for the OS. Wholeheartedly agreed and it's also why I have so much respect for Microsoft and the b

Clearly you don’t have much experience of Apple’s out of warranty support. Once your Product is out of warranty they have very little interest in helping you.

Indeed and I don't know if it's just me but I genuinely feel like London has gotten a lot worse for fraudsters in recent years...

Yup and in fact I'm genuinely finding that it's giving me less grief than developing on a Mac did.

Panic is one of those developers that makes me genuinely jealous of Mac users

I think to be fair it probably depends on which country you're in. In the UK I've found their support to be downright poor, even when compared to other device manufacturers, but I'm told in the US they're better.

Actually I don't believe that's the real reason. I think Facebook would be more than happy to co-operate. For China, the problem with Facebook isn't control or censorship, but rather providing protectionism for their own bran

I mean, it's possible to dislike both. I dislike Facebook but I still think it's wrong that Apple is preventing them from informing users that that's where the money is going.

Have you tried autohotkey? You can absolutely mimic this behaviour with that.

Similar thing here. I actually ended up finding that I downright preferred Windows, and I honestly find it a lot more stable and reliable in day to day use.

Would agree with this. I went from Mac to Windows and the 1Password client on macOS is much, much better. It's slowly improving on Windows though.

To be fair I don't think it'd be a bad idea to have some wordfilters for sexual language etc, and if detected, not necessarily autoban but flag for a moderator to review.

You say that, from what I've experienced their support is far inferior in the UK to what you'd get in the US.

I work for a small tech company and we've decided that we're going to be WFH permanently now. I can't imagine we're the only ones.

To be fair though, even if you think people should go to jail for that (and I don't think that's an unreasonable view), surely you'd agree that a life sentence is excessive?

Out of curiosity, would you say it's an improvement coming from Catalina? My confidence in the Mac was really shaken by Catalina but I'm genuinely ready to be impressed by Big Sur.

Indeed. The hardest part of my job isn't writing code. It's in understanding the problems and working out how to solve them.

To be fair it wouldn't surprise me - this sort of thing was pretty common back then. You'd create high def 3D models and then render 2D sprites etc from them.

If I had to guess it's because Rosetta isn't fully emulating an x86_64 instruction set but rather dynamically translating API calls for the most part.

Nailed it. With Steve Jobs his own passion and enthusiasm really shone through, whereas now we're seeing a rehearsed, scripted presentation. I don't think they're necessarily wrong to take this route, and I think with Apple&#
