The "use things I don't choose the hardware for" is the more relavent part. And I didn't mean the torx is actually hard to find in stores, rather that I don't see it much in the wild. I have torx bits I'd love

I'd _very_ lightly push back on that for a posidrive, but it has a lot of asterisks. IF you can keep enough pressure on a posi, I've not seen issues. but if you can't it's failure case approaches the dreaded Phillips. An

Imo that's the main failure of the posix, it _looks_ like a Phillips, and behaves like one of you use a Phillips bit. Which is rather unfortunate and not really it's fault, but hard to overlook for "normal" usage.

Fair! I'm speaking from a US perspective here for torx availability, and largely interacting with things I didn't get to decide the hardware on myself.

No "science" here, all anecdote built from boats, skis, and a moderate amount general use: Flat head: the bigger the better in this format, and simplicity has it's place, but easy to destroy in a variety of situations. Also,

I was confused on that too. It does have "?" for some of those things, not that they say what a question mark is, I read that as untested. Also, I'm not entirely sure what they mean for subtitles, but Plex supports burned i

Dropping ddclient into a docker container as part of your compose files takes very few resources, and keeps your domain name pointed to your current public IP through changes. I've been running that for years without any maintenance b

Tbh its a really jarring camera, even when I don't care about quality. I got a work Mac (2019 Intel), coming from a relatively mid range windows work laptop, and after my first meeting I spent at least half an hour googling for softwar

In my experience, devs that have interacted with no code and had negative experiences tend to fall in a few categories: 1. Used it themselves and didn't move any faster because of having to learn a new way of thinking 2. Used it themse

For workflow stuff, I more or less do the generalized version of the xkcd Worth the Time (0). There's always initial friction bringing something new into a workflow, both from a learning and practice standpoint, which I treat as an ex

There's certainly power, that's at least inherent in modding a popular platform. But as a _very_ casual observer mainly lurking around, I'm satisfied with interpreting dangs stance as anything with any traction gets boosted,

The last I remember thinking about that idea, the answer was yes. And that I could probably switch out the parser to a yml parser, not tell anyone, and get a few months free of parsing errors in our hand written json (don't ask) before

Fly.io does, haven't tried it myself though. Link is for postgres but I think it'll work for just about anything, the free tier is just 3gb of disk space and a small compute node. https://fly.io/docs/reference

For 1, there's some unfortunate but important semantics. Python does not enforce type _Hints_ at runtime, as Hints are in many ways fancy comments. But as pointed out, python is a strongly typed language (at least on the sliding scale

I had a good time with dramatiq+apecheduler, much more bare bones and less out of the box, but when something went wrong is was pretty easy to understand and work around.
