Chase's website is pretty crappy. I regularly have to login twice, or check the developer console to debug why I get infinite loading spinners. This is with a stock and up-to-date Chrome install on a good network.

Capitalism has ignored negative externalities for a long time, and now the bill is nearly due. The environment is devastated, climate change will disrupt the ecosystem services we take for granted, and inequality is giving rise to political

I know you are looking for DIY, but I ended up getting Lutron Serena shades and they are really great. When I compared the cost of standard custom shades vs something with built-in automation it wasn't that big of a cost difference. Cu

I've setup a homebrew system for my cameras and while fun initially it was a pain to maintain. Rather than spend a weekend getting the system back up and running before a recent trip I just bought a 150.00 baby monitor that supported H

Lawns are a major soil conservation and labor saving measure. They have a lot of qualities that suck but the alternative is more costly and requires quite a bit of work and skill. Any dummy can maintain a lawn or hire folks to maintain it f

I tried it for 5 minutes during my college days when I was "experienced" and... no fucking way. Maybe there are people who aren't as impacted but that is a very big and dangerous assumption. Please stop perpetuating this idea

This is so great. I'm looking forward to not having to use bloated js libraries to address date formatting.

I really don't understand the moral argument for vegetarianism that excludes seafood. There are plenty of fish and marine invertebrates that are as smart/sentient/feeling as a chicken or cow. In many cases the environmental i

This is a sore point with the new iphones for me. It happens at least once a week with routine hobby-farm work. I'm really looking forward to getting faceid.

They advertise 3-7 business days. For the past 3 months it's been more like ~8-11 business days. Nobody here has unrealistic expectations. USPS would be much faster if they just dropped it in the mail within a couple days. It would als

I couldn't get them to send me an xbox controller in Hawaii. It's just infuriating. They could at least have the decency to let you filter items you can't get. The mismatch between their listed terms and what you actually get

Amazon shipping can be terrible depending on where you live. Here in Hawaii they claim 3-7 business days which they regularly don't meet. The pattern I've noticed is that they wait until the very last moment to ship and then use p

There are a lot of folks making this same argument. I studied evolutionary biology in University and can say confidently that you are on a lot shakier ground than you think. There is not necessarily an innate drive to make a traditional fam

Every successful small farm is built on unpaid labor from what I've seen. Many are making it work and providing some value to these workers, but I shake my head seeing young college graduates working as laborers. All to get experience

There's a queen bee farm (right term?) in my neighborhood. One time I walked into the post office and as soon as I open the door I hear a roar of buzzzzz... There was at least a full pallet of flat-rate boxes of bees.
