Oh god there’s so much of that I’ve written over the years. It’s still in there now. Fortunately minification eats my shame publicly. Think the worst one was we had some code that would add a pad in somewhere after the page was rendered tha

Genuinely do it. It was the best improvement I made in my life. All I did was eat less crap and walk a lot. Turned out i liked walking so I now walk up mountains and stuff. I started over 10 years after you so you’re good still :) If you’ve

Good advice. Also don’t start doing this tomorrow. Do it today. I know at least three people now who have pushed off everything to next week for years and ended up with irreversible bad health outcomes.

UK here. Mostly cancelled this year but best place to get scopes are radio rallies https://rsgb.org/main/news/rallies/

Very cool. There’s some of that curiously expensive stuff in here too. My oscilloscope and plug-ins cost about $70k new. I paid $200 for it :). It’s amazing that stuff I couldn’t afford I can now

I have quite a lot of vintage test and radio equipment. It’s cheap, completely dangerous and unreliable and fun to fix. I couldn’t be happier playing with it.

Durgod K320 works nicely with macOS. You can get replacement key tops from eBay for about $20 to get cmd/opt back etc

I’ve got an M1 Mac mini. That it does. But it still doesn’t run a bunch of software I need so I’m sitting here thinking about replacing it with a mid range windows box.

I’m with you on this. I’ve been working remotely for many years now and I started using laptops initially (thinkpad T series ) so my house didn’t get cluttered with work things mostly and I could waltz into the office. Roll on time and I di

This is why I can’t bring myself to change out my 32” Samsung dumb TV. Every time I look elsewhere I see products which are worse even if I gain 4K and some more inches. Please someone just sell a 4K monitor in 43, 50 inch sizes with HDMI t

I’d stay away from duplicity. I’ve had serious problems with it and large inode counts where it’ll bang the CPU at 100% and never complete. Have moved to using rdiff-backup over SSH.

Ah the RAM pack. This resulted in a life of wiggle wiggle crash crash. I managed to get my hands on a beeb eventually. Thank goodness.

Pretty impressive outcome after less than 6 months on the market. I’m using mine for dev work but it’s mostly as a terminal at the moment to stuff in AWS. Oh and PyCharm which works perfectly.

I hadn’t even noticed this to be honest. And I’m not particularly bothered. It just works for me. I’m sure at some point it’ll poke me in the eye but so far this has been the least painful OS for me to use for years.

If you look at the Ofcom schedule it says that 433Mhz ISM devices must accept harmful interference. So you’re probably right. They aren’t safety critical systems.

As a fellow ham I’d probably stay away these days in fear of being labelled the cause of the problem.

I think this is a statement about the poor state of education. I had a 40 year old oscilloscope open (Tek 465) on my desk a few years back when the in laws came round and it was like watching the monkeys around the monolith in 2001.

I vaguely remember editing one of the boot files so it'd start up and display a fake > prompt. This was then used to print out an insult. Also because everyone just hit break you could set it with a *KEY0 command to just run the pro

With this was true. The M2 design is terrible from an engineering perspective both mechanically and thermally. At best the mounting is a hack job. I agree with the problem though. M2 is just a crappy answer to it.

Yes. That's why there is the NHS Choices Framework which allows you to choose both GP and outpatients. My GP is 40 miles away. My daughter is treated for her condition at Guys even though we're 20 miles away and there is a differe

Agree with this. My father was conned by this attitude. He was never at home and died a month after he retired. The people telling you to work hard and promoting that ideology are the ones who will benefit, not you.
