Do you personally sanction all countries that commit atrocities or is it specific to Russia? I don't care what you do or don't support with your money, but I'm genuinely curious about the mindset.

I havent been on here forever, but I vaguely remember other trends took over for certain periods. I could be misremembering, but crypto drove a lot of interaction for a while. I'm indifferent towards LLMs, probably because I'm not

If you account for signal propagation speed through copper and the unaccounted ACK, I think the timing actually works out about the same.

LLVM isnt a good scapegoat. A C application equivalent in size to a rust or c++ application will compile an order of magnitude quicker and they all use LLVM. I'm not a compiler expert, but it doesn't seem right to me that the only

The advice seems to change every year. For a while it was venv, then pipenv, poetry, docker, and now uv. Maybe the ecosystem will settle on that but who knows.

The devs for the game factorio encourage players to post bugs on the forums. The devs use forums as a issue tracker and respond to bugs with fixes. I have no idea if that makes it more satisfying to report bugs or not, but I always thought

I disagree with plenty of Andrew's takes as well but I'm with him on private fields. I've never once in 10 years had an issue with a public field that should have been private, however I have had to hack/reimplement enti

I don't use Go, but I actually like Go's error handling and I think multiple return values is a better solution than any other language I've used. So much so, I've basically adopted it in my c++ code using std::pair. Err

This is awesome! At the end you mention the 27k dragons and 10k lights just barely fits in 16ms. Do you see any paths to improve performance? I've seen some demos on with tens/hundreds of thousands of moving lights, but hard to te

How does any other language do this? I bounce between submodules and monorepo for hobby projects and both approaches have some issues. I'm not a git expert so working with monorepos are a little easier to work with for me.
