What's the difference between a cafe and a dispensary? Forgive me, I have no clue of the various subtleties of marijuana purchase. Where I live it's simply illegal.

Yeah, that's the issue I'm having. You can see the situation for yourself at http://rinich.com and http://journal.rinich.com . I'm trying to think of what I could put on the home page to make it worth something, but I'm drawing a blank.

You can make registration codes sound silly by calling them "magic numbers" all you'd like, but they're there to make sure things go according to their designer's plans. This isn't grey territory. It's not DRM, which inconveniences anybody.

Are you saying that it should be legal to steal another company's work and use it in your product? Because Apple makes a good product and I don't think it should be legal to break it and force it into your box. If I was doing something so d

I'll bet money that they don't let you theme your personal page. It goes against Facebook's central philosophy.

I get your point, but I disagree with you. Users doesn't matter unless those users are seeing you. If you're a band, using MySpace to attract users doesn't work well; I can imagine a clever band using Facebook much more effectively than the

"Namaste" means "peace". It's not an inherently religious word. That guy gave lots of secular advice and ended with the word. This post is all "Go to Jesus." There's a difference.

What a whiner. MySpace was an ugly hybrid of a social network and a music site. I'm glad that it's gone. Just because he hates social networks doesn't make MySpace excusable. TheSixtyOne? Lala? Bandcamp? All more elegant and more precise to

The fact that very few types of writing actually work well in book format? I've written a novel: It takes a lot of work and a lot of effort to make one, and it's very hard to write one without padding it. Most things novels deal with can be

Disqus has the same problem with 100 comments. This just happens to be a very popular post. Tumblr theme designers can remove the picture from the list. Sadly, not many do so.

What matters here isn't "Are Apple and Facebook soulless and oppressive corporations?" (I'd argue no, lots of people would argue yes; either way it's not important.) What matters is how each is treating its developers. Facebook is open to d

True this. When I joined, I quickly found out that the people on the leaderboard tended to be the people whose names I remembered throughout threads. I'd also place a bet that not too many people with lots of karma are flippant spammers;

That's Tumblr's equivalent of commenting. I find that it's much more minimal than normal comments, while still letting people respond to the author. It's not as good, mind you, as showing no response to your work at all and letting it exist

The frustrating thing is that both viewpoints are valid, and there're people on both sides that don't seem to get that, and they're the only reason that people are getting into these arguments to begin with.
