Are we sure it's opposition to enforcement of existing basic immigration rules? What I've seen has been more opposition to unjustifiable detainment, oppression, and killings of American citizens (i.e. murder). The same militarizat

My brother bought a Tesla recently. They dicked him around with delivery, and he had to pay a ton to get charging infrastructure installed at his house, but it's fast so he's happy. On a recent visit, he finally showed me the car,

I'm not sure I understand your questions. I'm in the (apparent minority on HN) anti-LLM camp, so none. I'm just someone who was sentient in the 90s and has seen history slip down all the slippery slope fallacies despite assur

The current administration has a very low approval rating, but the company at issue has infamously been caught colluding with them [0]. I suppose my concern boils down to the fact that positions like appeals to politicians ends up equating

If I'm understanding correctly, you seem to propose that companies of people (generally, executives) should not be responsible for ethics, but rather politicians checked by journalists. Politicians are notorious for their lack of ethic

And what’s more, the FAA is currently moving away from DERs and to ODAs, which is the program that enables Boeing’s flavor of self- oversight https://avbrief.com/faa-wants-to-phase-out-ders/

"The kids don't know what they're doing" has been a consistent complaint throughout history. How do we separate the tendency towards this complaint from a real signal of failure?

I'm sure you wouldn't throw stones from a glass house. Either way, I suspect you're reading what I wrote as "well, this is easier and I don't care enough to put in the effort." Conversely, there is currently no

I don’t think that an unleaded fuel is 100% ready to go, but you’re absolutely right that the FAA is a huge reason why. My plane is certified for 80/87 (a fuel no longer produced) but the paperwork involved means I’ll just keep burning

If anything, the tail number does not matter nearly as much. A plane with auto land presumably already has ADSb out (almost certainly 1090ES), is squawking 7700, and is probably already IFR anyway. As in this situation, the controllers knew

This is one of my biggest frustrations with aviation— the certification required to get this done is hugely onerous. The whole basis of certified aircraft is that they may not change, which makes improvements like airframe parachutes, auto

Some of the audio replays I heard had silence cut out, but the aircraft transmits every two minutes, for about twenty seconds each. It does share the information I'd want to hear in an uncontrolled environment, but in a busy towered cl

Who says you have to have 340 million people agree? Congress's approval rating hovers around 20% for years and years— they haven't been interested in the will of the people for a long time.
