I can tell you the software provider in the insurance industry requires its claims adjusters to use IE10 and Silverlight to file a claim. Every house damaged by wind, every flood claim, etc. all goes through a Silverlight interface.

I don't remember Google throwing any marketing at being the start page of the internet. That was a Reddit campaign trying to get users to switch from Digg.

Just sign up with a different card. As a matter of fact, if I ever did a chargeback I would probably insist I get a new card number and maybe consider changing my address with the bank to be slightly different (maybe spell out "street&

That's definitely not a bad deal! Definitely seen worse at my job for domains that sit unused, and we aren't even really a tech company.

Yep, "podcast" still feels like an Apple-branded version of shoutcasts to me, 15 years later.

The creator of that app might enjoy https://www.worldcat.org/title/microsoft-windows-user-experi... Just sticking to some proven standards, even from a 20 year old software book, can really enhance an interface. Right

Nothing. You have to create a Markdown file with the start and end time. Their example confusingly says resolved is 'false' but then sets a resolve date, so I dunno what to make of it. https://raw.githubusercontent.com&

This past week mine has started doing something even more fun on Windows 10: creating "WpSystem" folders on the root of all of my secondary hard drives and putting AppData>Local>Packages>Adobe.CC folders inside of them wi

There was a moment, years ago, when I used VS Code to edit text files because it was faster than Sublime and Notepad++. These days I open it begrudgingly.

The web should be usable on a 28.8k modem from the mid 90s. Why wouldn't it be?

I can't imagine anything more suspicious looking than that! I'm guessing the US isn't the target audience here.

I used to run the application skins section on deviantart way back in the day. What is now marketed as "dark mode" is what every kid would put up as their first skin. "I turned white black and black white!" It always amu

The only difference between this and the web ~15 years ago is that they didn't even tell you it was a cookie issue. If you couldn't access the site, then "uhh try using Internet Explorer?"

Yeah as somebody that uses the bookmarks bar, this is just maddening. First I go to about:config on my personal profile, great. But I have a work profile, and once again I have to turn it off. Dev Edition gets the update, gotta turn it off

I find a lot of my creative balance gets refilled by listening to improv comedy podcasts on Earwolf and Headgum networks. Earwolf in particular has been in the game for over a decade, they took production quality very serious early on, and

I can't seem to find a source, but I thought I'd read that MIT and Hardvard and others were either pulling out or removing old courses from edX due to some accessibility laws. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

I see it called Kraft Dinner here in the southeast US. I figured since roux-based mac and cheese is a staple in southern cooking, they wanted to let everyone know to expect something quite different. But now I see on their website the full
