From my experience this is normal for embedded development; particularly for consumer electronics. Part of the reason some developers in this space have to wear so many hats is that the pace in consumer electronics is unforgiving. I don

While I've personally seen examples of the team leader getting credit for being a self-promoter, I'm not convinced. I've also seen groups where the team leader was the most passionate, and really was the driving force for the

Is that the case? From the benchmarks I've seen, they're not slower. They might be slower for single-core video game performance, but you need to spend over $1000 on Intel to compete with the $500 Ryzen on workstation performance.

John Oliver had a segment on subprime lending back in August: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U2eDJnwz_s According to the video, there was a 31.45% default rate in 2015.

Hmm. You made me think about this differently. Trump comes from the business world, so it makes sense that he would treat his current role the same. Not that I agree with the mentality at all, but it does seem less inherently spiteful now.

I think you're right about narcissism being the motivation for a lot of the posts on those social media platforms, but I disagree with your stance. Particularly because I think blog posts are a significant source of technical informati

A Modest Proposal by Jonathon Swift: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Modest_Proposal Are you familiar with it? Obviously, it's not quite the same, but this was the first thing that came to mind from your comment.

While it's nice that they want to converge on rustup, I greatly prefer using my distro-provided compiler in almost all cases. Right now that is rustc 1.14, which means that that alacritty is currently beyond my compilation capability.

Your comment makes me think that the Latin speaking world likes to attribute bad plants to the devil. There's a drug that Colombians call the Devil's Breath[1]. Which is believed to be scopolamine[2], which had previously been use

That's interesting, my experience has been the opposite. I've had multiple people inquire about my KDE5 Breeze-themed desktop because of how nice it looks. I'm curious, what is your favorite desktop ever? What does KDE5 do wr

There are obviously many factors such as domain knowledge and language familiarity. I respect the developer who failed to do this in Powershell, he's very capable. In this case, I would chalk it up to Python having a longer history and

Powershell isn't competing with bash, it's competing with Python. So then, how does it compare against Python? While plenty of small scripts are still done with bash, I think Python is pretty common for serious production needs. I

Don't give up so easily. According to Marvel[1], Wolverine is only 5'3, but Hugh Jackman played him at 6'2. For me, the most surprising stat from that page is that he weighs 195 lbs without the metal skeleton, and 300lbs with

I know we're talking about POSIX here, but Linux does have the ability to wait on signals the same way it waits on file descriptors. It does this by also allowing signals to be delivered on file descriptors. http://man7.org&
