True, but that's true of most data mining and search algorithms. You are in danger of over-fitting the sample data. You can take steps to avoid this by giving more consideration to correct solutions that are shorter, in the hope that brevit

I did something like this for my Master's, I evolved Java objects using genetic programming based on a set of unit tests. Managed to evolve a simple bank account example and a reverse polish notation class. Here's a link to the paper http:
