I love Montreal, but it seems you are describing the Plateau/Mile-End rather than Montreal as a whole. But I agree, from the North American cities I visited, Montreal has the nicest, livable higher-density housing areas.

There is this emotion, not sure it has a name, which I am sure many engineers know -- when you prepare your system for a long time and then send it into the real world and watch it work... You can feel it in this video, e.g when you see the

Not sure what is so startling in this. In a city, a PHEV with a smaller and cheaper battery (say 80km range) can be equivalent, or very close to a BEV: enough range for daily commute, nightly charging, etc.

The amount of information required to orchestrate such a process seems incredibly high compared to the amount of data stored in the DNA. My understanding of Information Theory completely breaks down looking at this. It seems impossible that

Brilliant work. It really helps building an intuitive foundation of these phenomena. With such intuitive foundation, one has confidence to look into the math behind the curtain, even if this math gets complex, you will still feel confident.

Constraints are not used just for developing technique, but they also have an unintuitive effect -- boost creativity. Think of how hard it is to start writing an essay on "any topic you like" versus a more specific, constrained on

How is the noise level when typing? I have an original Model M, and it feels great, but a bit too noisy, e.g. I hear the clicks even when in noise-cancelling headphones.

I like the this whole class of questions "What's so exciting/good about <SOMETHING>?" Online (forums, etc) this type of question usually elicits informative answers, and probably in face to face communication too.
