Was it? The only issue I remember was with String before Java 1.2, where only few characters where used in hash (instead of all) leading to abysmal performance in many applications.

Yeah, that are exactly the arguments used by companies selling "Intelligent Transportation Systems". After deployment: surprise - there aren't any noticeable changes, except for places that are performing worse and require ma

It is easier to find a bug then to select token that is "correct". Also some of those bugs are detected even by GCC.

What I don't like about Rimworld (and Gnomoria, to lesser degree Banished) is early game difficulty. In DF all you have to do is build farm + still, after that all is up to player to decide. In other games missing a single element( lik

Acting as "Evil twin" for hotspots in public places seems to be feasible. I understand why people aren't using cert pinning, that can completely break site, are there any practical reasons not to use HSTS?

Code completion(API) has big impact on my productivity in larger systems. With dynamic typed languages I ended up with type annotations everywhere - so advantage of not having to declare variable types kinda disappears.

Maybe Civ? I guess the single game takes too long but I still would love to see it as default AI is totally crap and relies on handicaps.

I am not sure if it is a ripoff but it is quite close to protection racket - either you are available one of such sites or your object never gets any tourists. Looks like another industry that naturally goes in monopoly/oligopoly direc

Might not work for long. There are already contests for best generic solutions[0] and it seems like quite popular topic in machine learning. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_game_playing

I don't think it matters. No one want's to see import/includes on blackboard and they don care much if you remember if method on some object was called len(), size(), count() or length.

> Soon we will need to pay for every site we visit. That's aweful. I don't think that is something bad. For example clickbait would slowly disappear - without ads there is no need to trick users into more page views.

Will it ever be more popular? EU is recently thinking about banning crypto currencies. This might end with ID verification requirement for all exchanges. Then Visa and other CC issuers will ban anything related to BitCoin, just like PayPal

Maybe it is a dumb question but does fusion really matter that much? I mean that nuclear reactors are ridiculously expensive to build and maintain and fusion only removes the cost of fuel acquiring and disposal. It might be 20%, 30% or even

I can't understand why HackerRank gained such popularity. Among many similar sites it has lowest quality of problems, especially input/output specification. The "pay for more test suites" strongly reminds me Pay to Win .
