People who worry about the moral decision-making of a car are pointing out that there's a sort of ethics reduction (in the math sense of the word) here: deciding on the ideal driverless car is about as hard as deciding on what the idea

Let's say you somehow "chose" to be hardworking. Since not everyone is hardworking, it seems that not everyone makes the right choice. Did you "choose" to choose to be hardworking? It's turtles all the way down

We can go further, though. Intelligence and tenacity are also things that were given to us. You don't choose to be smart, nor do you choose to be hardworking.

This game is quite confusing even if you speak French. Somehow playing a variant of tetris explains public key crypto.

I think the main breakthrough here is that these nucleotides are not only unnatural but that the host can actually duplicate them; the E coli in this experiment passed the new nucleotides to 24 child cells.

There are beliefs in this world that you cannot publicly hold and still expect to be taken seriously. If Eich were arguing against interracial marriage there would be very little debate about this issue; believing that humans cannot marry b

I totally agree with you, and I think everyone commenting on this thread should stop and read Sam Harris's "Letter to a Christian Nation". It pretty much covers all the questions being asked here.

I agree with you about most of those phobias, but I strongly disagree about Islamophobia. I think future societies will be surprised by how much human suffering we permit in the name of being "tolerant". Religions are not all crea

You've expressed my point of view better than I ever could have. I tried to make it clear that this program will not change much for those who are 2+ standard deviations to the right of average. For the majority, this is a great deal.

I think this could be boiled down as: List<T> is a data structure. Anything that inherits from List<T> should be a data structure too. So LinkedList<T> could reasonably extend List<T>, but Team should not.
