Saw a preview of this at EuroPython. Best part was Guido's pragmatism on making Python more inclusive. Paraphrasing a bit from memory "It's a hard problem, but problems have solutions."

How do you expect them to manufacture stuff but not learn from it in the process?

I've only forayed into rust a bit, but I agree. I would happily take a language like Rust that sacrifices some speed for simpler semantics around ownership/lifetimes. Just Arc, clone and panic your way to success! :)

For forms and auth style apps, Django will probably always be the better choice.

The usable amount of AI, no matter how optimistic you are about current progression, has to be below the projections the entire AI economy is living on right now.

I believe I first came across this in the early xslt days, when I had a manager that wanted to write all software with an XML requirements spec, then use xslt to simultaneously generate code AND documentations. 1. It did not work because of

I don't think the point was to say you need the calibrated monitor to notice, rather that it's _even more stark_, and clearly points to the issues raised in the article. And to be fair, the thrust of the article was "Why don&

What bums me out is the creativity of coming up with the idea and seeing it through. If the rest of my career involves cleaning up prototypes from PMs, designers and marketing, I will be a little sad.

Would love to read about Saturn V explosions during testing. Have a link?

I think with many things in psychiatry, yes this is a common experience, but part of a diagnosis is actually about it becoming a real problem in your life. We all have aspects of a lot of different things that become disorders depending on

When I saw the headline, I really hoped the article would be about some neuro-linguistic phenomenon that made native speakers of Japanese uniquely able to understand some mathematical proof.

What kind of uses do you have for it that make it this indispensable? Not doubting, just feeling like I'm missing out because I don't think I've ever used it.

Yeah but it would have to be something like `db.safe("SELECT * FROM table WHERE id = {}", row_id)` instead of `db.execute(t"SELECT * FROM table WHERE id = {row_id}")`. I'd prefer the second, myself.

Problem with that example is where do you get `safe`? Passing a template into `db.execute` lets the `db` instance handle safety specifically for the backend it's connected to. Otherwise, you'd need to create a `safe` function with

Working on a team in a larger python application, type checkers and linters are such a time saver. It's so nice not to think about how I'd like to format my code any longer. We've made some tweaks to our ruff rules to suit th
