Indeed. That should have been communicated more clearly.

I was very eagerly anticipating BankSimple, err, Simple, since it was announced. Problem was, the world caught up. I recently got my Simple account set up, and as a result decided that ING Direct + Mint offers me everything I need, and more

Sure, not saying that part isn't stupid, it is. But a device that lets you stream music to it _and_ offer decent amplification at less-than-Sonos prices is a pretty good idea. If the Q was $100 and let you stream in a fashion similar to Air

Replace is the wrong way to look at it. Supplement is better. Sure, mostly people that care about audio are going to have a primary system with a nice receiver and big speakers. But the same kind of person that cares about music enough to w

I don't think it's mystifying at all. Banana plugs are probably the most convenient way to hook speakers to an amplifier. And despite all of its other flaws, one of the most exciting things to me is being able to power speakers directly fro

In my experience, Sublime Text hits that exact niche you're describing. It does the things important to programmers, or people who work with lots of text, well enough that you don't have to worry about any plugins, etc. But it also offers a

I think they're referring to the heatsinks _in_ the air conditioning and refrigeration systems. The higher efficiency of the cooler itself would allow these devices to operate more efficiently.

The actual presentation video shows a real device in use. I found that much more compelling than the strange video on the site.

I believe the loan is only guaranteed by the state, but the terms say that the state will own all IP given a default. I'm willing to bet we'd be legally obligated to sell it to help cover the bonds. I know very little about finance, though,

I'm not sure how Schilling expected the state to do anything else. That's kind of the price you pay accepting _state funds_. As an RI taxpayer, I'm happy with the way Chafee has handled this so far.

Not totally well. I still get lag spikes in a _single player game_. It's really confusing to me why they make the client rely on the server, especially when I've turned off "quick join" mode.

One key part (mentioned by a comment in the story itself) that wasn't clear to me at first is that you're not purchasing a single reserved instance. The reservation applies to any instance of the type you've reserved. So regardless of speci

I agree. The "asked to put together" is the offensive part. I consider myself lucky to work with people that I do want to hang out with, and sometimes we collectively decide to plan a social event together, but having it come top-down reall

Github seems to be slowly working towards that. Their mac app hides a lot of details, and does some things "magically" (stashing uncommitted changes when switching branches, for instance). Doesn't do it well enough for you to forget about G

One thing that's become an issue for me, at least at my local theater (and I admit I may be in the minority here), is volume. Now, before you pull out "too old" or "don't be a wuss", I'll say that I'm only 29, and I play in a _loud_ rock ba
