We can have a little test - let's put backdoors on all of law enforcement's encryption usage and see how long it stays safe. I really don't know if people like Barr are arguing in good faith. But then I try to assume incompet

I'm surprised to hear there was a conflict. It seemed to me like they were going with the corporate finance direction. I left Coinbase when they gated basic payments behind an additional level of verification. They blocked you from sen

Let's not forget that government regulation specifically prohibits people below a wealth threshold to take part in earlier stage investments. "Accredited investor" is a complete joke of a term. It implies some kind of educati

I began working remotely last year. I never intend to take another non-remote job if I can help it.

This push to censor wrong ideas instead of compete with them is misguided at best. And then there's the nerve to pretend like there isn't some kind of intentional social engineering going on with internet platforms. If the kinds o

I'm legitimately surprised to see so much good will towards Epic and Tim Sweeney here. I'm happy about their revenue share and was excited when they got started - until it became obvious that their tactics didn't align with t

Definitely experience the constant loading problems. Honestly good to hear I'm not the only one. I assumed it was something they didn't like about my setup. Since the redesign, my Reddit use has dropped off a cliff.

This is the reason I don't think I'll ever sign up. Pay a monthly subscription and full price for games that'll likely vanish in a puff of efficiency? Thanks but no thanks.

Yeah, the home bricking itself when you turn off those settings is infuriating. The Google Assistant effectively bricks itself too. As if they need your location and browsing history if they're gonna play that song you asked for.

You're making a pedantic argument and backing it up with a link specific to the US court system. What the US supreme court says had no bearing in Brazil.

There's a great planet money episode that analyzed the actual effect of removing plastic bags from grocery stores - and how it really doesn't match the hype. Straight off, it claimed that at least 30% of the plastic "savings&

I used PIA for a long time, but at some point it seemed like every single site I visited triggered that Cloudflare protection page that forces you to fill out Google Recaptcha before proceeding. Hopefully that's not the case now.

In the US, we know that ISPs and government agencies are harvesting data for their own proposes. So using a VPN comes down to the fair gamble that someone who promises not to log and use your data is possibly better than the guys who defini

I don't see how this doesn't already violate price fixing laws. This isn't the market at work, but a calculated distortion of it within the pharmaceutical oligopoly.

Stoic ideas have completely changed how I look at the world. Anxiety has plummeted. Interesting to see someone I admire espousing such thinking. I seriously doubt it'll get any traction in the current climate.

Was trying to set up SSL on a GKE cluster today. Guess I'll have to wait for tomorrow if I want to be able to tell my mistakes apart from Google's.

It needs to be a lot more intuitive how to resize elements - especially since the tutorial isn't implemented yet. I've no clue how to do it. I like the Ryeboard aesthetic, but the usability should take a few cues from Milanote.

Personally - since I rarely drive - this would keep me on gas powered cars indefinitely. There's no way my driving habits amount to $1000 in gas taxes every year. I can see how they'd think it was reasonable if they just did the a

I went through 2 Nexus 5x's. Even when they weren't being bricked, they were laggy as hell. I'd constantly be waiting 5 seconds for actions to register.

I've found the Pixel 2 to be far more stable and less laggy than either of my Nexus 5x's. (Went through 2 because the bootloop bug bricked the first.) Not that I think Google's hardware is doing a bang up job. Pixel buds are
