I've switched over a fairly large transit client to PMTiles hosted on CloudFlare for their dynamic map and am switching another large transit client to using https://github.com/maptiler/tileserver-gl with MBTiles

I just switched to protonmaps on cloudflare from Mapbox and went from $500-100 a month to abut $5 a month.

This is kind of interesting. I might try the rice. Kind of strange that the author didn't try sorghum, which I have tried and works pretty well. It's much smaller than corn, but it has a similar texture. I call it "spoon-pop&

That’s fine. But the book is definitely not just for “anti-modernists.”

Unfortunately, no. I was hired as a WordPress developer on a team that did a lot of Drupal work, so I was able to gently ease into doing small projects. Understanding the Drupal render pipeline will help you immensely, but it is complicated

I moved from building sites on WordPress to Drupal about 5 years ago and never looked back. Thankfully I’ve only ever used the new (8+) architecture so I’ve never had to deal with all the procedural stuff. I enjoy using the CMS immensely. W

Well, that’s just like, your opinion, man. I think it lays out a pretty succinct overview of the ethics involved in building any system in a wholistic manner. He changed his statements later to say that “the quality without a name” is, in f

This article seems to think the CSS spec is too big, which I don’t think is the case. We should be able to access lots of rendering options via CSS. But CSS stylesheets are definitely way too big.

I started contributing to a certain open source project that gets lambasted on here a lot last summer. After some contributions, a bounty using my skills became available. I jumped at the chance and completed the bounty. That led to more co

Arguably that's the reason most people stay away from it. If you can put aside your feelings about the now-departed founder and boot it, you may find that it's everything you're looking for. I'm totally dumbfounded at th

I genuinely believe that the obscurity is useful, and not artificial as far as computer languages go. I don't work for them, and I learned enough hoon to read it and make small changes.

Urbit is pretty fast these days. There's also plenty of anonymous people on the network. And a trans developer works at Tlon.

It's SCSS, a language that compiles to CSS. That whole section has almost nothing to do with CSS, though. That's array syntax for holding a set of utilities to be used later in the code.

Just because it’s illegible does not mean it is suboptimal. It purposely breaks with existing conventions because it does things in a way not current code does.
