I don’t think this is true. At least on iOS I only see links to more videos in the description.

You lost me at Samsung/Apple/Jeep/Nintendo. I’d definitely put Apple in the top tier of phone and laptop quality. Especially w.r.t laptops, the majority of Windows devices seem comparatively low quality. I’m not sure about th

I’m not familiar with the term “Polygenic Screening” and couldn’t find a clear description in the article. For anyone else like me, this Wikipedia article describes what a polygenic score is: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki&

Worth mentioning that RAM can be upgraded on the Razer Blade 15. I also have one and have upgraded SSD and RAM. Sadly the new AMD version (Blade 14) has the RAM soldered on. I'm not sure why. I hope Razer isn't backsliding here.

I don’t know. It is maybe not as secure as possible but it is certainly more secure than a password. I think it’s a baby step. I see other threads under the parent comment recommend banning SMS 2FA altogether. Surely this would be a step ba

Google (who isn’t at fault) is named like 5 times in the Twitter thread. At a glance it as though they are to blame even though further reading shows they aren’t. Despite this, the carrier is kept anonymous? Strange.

I doubt that. The interesting part is that there _is_ a goal even if we don't know what it is: * US Government is telling the truth - goal may be to figure out what these are. * US Government is lying - goal may be to mislead an advers

I’m finding the idea of taxing wealth less strange the more I think about it. At this point I find it almost equivalently strange to taxing income. Assuming there were no income tax I feel like your second paragraph could be rephrased: I’m

I read and enjoyed Atlas Shrugged. Sadly I think the main points about Objectivism are lost and people substitute in Libertarianism. While Objectivism isn’t the best philosophy in all cases, I don’t know any that are. It is still a useful w

In my experience a team breaking up or role model leaving is a good moment to do a temperature check and decide whether it’s worth staying. Perhaps I’ve been lucky though. I’ve worked at places with potential to move internally which has ke

I agree with this right up until the last sentence. If you feel the need to be an “impeccable toy model” I’d say leave. Sounds like a recipe for a life of misery.

This is a great story. I know its not related but I can't help but feel a sort of analogy to engineering work: the tension between idealism and pragmatism. At a previous company our build times for a game client were around 5 minutes o

I agree with both POV here. It _is_ disgusting to see Big Tech playing politics. However, I don’t think Trump’s ban has much to do with that. He simply broke the rules. Probably the thing that makes me saddest about the whole debacle is tha

I agree. If a business can’t make a profit, it’s hardly a business at all. I don’t know that the question is so important as to outweigh the moral consequences of making that profit though. I suspect that to some people it is _just_ as impo

It's always good to remember that we are not so different from our ancestors. For example, we are very close in time to the people who held the Salem witch trials. What would those same people have done with a high-powered tool that le

This is a valid point of view but would make me question using the service even more. It doesn’t seem like a good look when the more important question to a company is “can we profit” rather than “can we make the world a better place”.
