Agreed. Also happened to me on this page and I’ve seen it become more common. I wonder if there is a common gaming-related ad service which does this since it feels like the EXACT behavior I see on IGN.

For anyone wondering, this is the keyboard in the image at the top of the article: https://nuphy.com/collections/he-keyboards/products/nuphy-fi... I was intrigued by the design so I wanted to share.

I tried reading this article with genuine interest but the page crashed for me on iOS :( This seems to be happening more often in the back half of 2024. IGN crashes nearly every page view for me these days.

I mentioned this in another comment but I don’t think UI and logo design skills are the same thing. The author is obviously talented at logo design. I appreciate going out of their comfort zone and doing some UI design. That’s the necessary

I walk away with the impression of a talented logo/brand designer—perhaps one of the best! But not a particularly skilled UX designer.

Best practices are a way to avoid building everything up from first principles every time. They are more, “here are rules that are generally applicable so you don’t have to waste time thinking,” vs “here are laws of god which are always app

I don’t think that’s true. I feel like we get an allowance of one of these posts per election if you go back in HN history.

I think there is objective truth but our individual viewpoints only glance off it… so maybe it’s more correct to say, “there is no objective truth that can be known.” I think even folks who hate, fear, are violent, got that way through some

Agreed. Most people want what’s best for everyone and vote that way from their POV. We all have pieces of the truth. The best way to see the whole truth is bringing those pieces together.

They were interested in winning and I think they made decent moves. Dumping Biden amounted to huge increases in their win probability. A stronger candidate could have bolstered that further but Harris ran a decent campaign. The broader stat

I don’t have accounts on most social media. I don’t know if I get counted as a DAU but Reddit and X both became more aggressive towards converting folks to account holders. That’s pushed me away from both of them.

The Acquired podcast also supports this claim in a 2-part episode on Microsoft I’ll link below. Their evidence is from interviews with current and former Microsoft employees who worked with Ballmer IIRC including Ballmer himself. They basic

That’s a great question. I was really hooked on Mr. Money Mustache for awhile but his content got old. Levine is harder for me to read. He feels more complex feels more relevant.

Thanks, I updated it. I’d also like to say that I wouldn’t normally post this. It seems too political. Given the relevance of the previous story about the Washington Post though, this feels worth of submission: https://news.ycomb

Some other comments are along these lines but I’ll offer an anecdote. In college I was wearing a Halo biking shirt in the computer lab. A female friend remarked, “no one is going to date you if you wear that shirt.” Another friend nearby he

“You don’t get to shoot through human shields.” I don’t have a POV w.r.t. this conflict, but I’d like to understand what you mean by this statement generally. In the extreme it seems to imply, “if you have a human shield you are invincible.
