I actually thought this worked nicely even though people were NOT getting it. You are right that getting to the punchline quickly turned what could have been a loss into a fun little win.

If you haven’t listened to it already, Acquired remastered their TSMC episode. You can find that here https://www.acquired.fm/episodes/tsmc-remastered If you are interested in getting more context on TSMC, this is a gr

I love the NVIDIA design aesthetic compared to the other cards. TBH it isn’t even that NVIDIA’s design is that great. It’s more that everything else has become RBG vomit. I wish there were more options for non RGB versions from the reseller

Can you provide more information about what's in the headers? Additionally, are there any tracking parameters appended to the URL? I'm guessing it will look normal but it could provide some insights if something weird is there.

Interesting. I wouldn’t shave advised a site with spammy ads but it looks like they are sufficiently caught in my ad block.

I recently added RSS to my personal site ( https://www.tyleo.com/ ) Even with a custom implementation it’s a simple thing to support. You can find the whole spec here: https://www.rssboard.org/rss-specificatio

I can understand the negativity because this only appeals to specific sensibilities. I admit that it’s low brow but it hits my fascination the exact right way. To me there is something special about so many people being organized around som

FWIW there is a difference between revolution and civil war. I see a decent number of people advocate for the first but basically no one advocate for the second. In either case the numbers aren’t a majority.

I’m no advocate for revolution but the American problem is that our revolution actually worked. Americans freed themselves from a prior group of elites unlike the grandparent comment is claiming of the French elites.

I thought the differences in grey/white matter in male/female brains were known. I remember hearing about this all the way back in 2005. Edit: Well I feel like a fool. I opened up and read past the headline. This article is specif

The dupe is flagged which is strange since this seems relative to the HN community. You can find plenty of other sexual harassment claims in the HN history which are not flagged.

I also agree with this. I’ve been at growing companies that lacked processes like OKRs and then adopted them. The reason they crop up is to organize the chaos of hundred person teams. On a 30 person team you’re constantly talking to everyon

The car dependency—which I’ve had to live with my whole life—doesn’t bother me as much as what’s happening with trucks specifically. It’s like the only remaining trucks for sale are all monster trucks.

Agreed. I feel like every OS has its flaws. My sense of Windows is that installations deteriorate. My cursor currently doesn’t show in VSCode after an update. My ‘Downloads’ folder also disappeared recently and everything now downloads to m

This one has been popular for a decade IMO. I remember playing with it in college. To my mind this is the viral one and there are some additional knock offs.

There are two interesting POVs in this comments section: 1. Elections are the voters’ will. The voters’ will is being undermined. 2. Elections are votes + campaigning and there are laws around both. The campaigning laws may have been violat

This is really interesting. I suspect there may be different reasons to take different approaches depending on surrounding CSS and elements. A lot of UI work I do is experimenting with different ways to do things to find what’s cleanest for

This isn’t working for me on iOS. I’m not sure the effect is cross platform. That’s one of the challenges with these techniques.

Thanks, I tried to minimize the amount of code to the bare necessities. It actually pained me that JavaScript was required to get a cross-platform version working. Aside from that I haven’t jammed ads or trackers into every nook and cranny
