I've had 5x4TB WD Reds for about 10 years, I did have to replace one at some point but my synology supported hotswapping it and restoring everything. Have not had an issue with the others, would buy those drives again :)

I've been testing quite a few of these models lately. For me, the absolute best is still the 65B 4-bit quantized llama model with the correct prompt and parameters, both for programming, language and general questions. I am actually ge

Yeah, I don't think this will be a corporate thing but a private decentralized thing. It's probably the worst fear of the likes of google etc, a 100% local "search engine" / knowledge center that does not even requi

Report from Norway. I used to get perhaps 3-4 calls a week from the same Indian sounding scammers (a man and a woman). They call from UK numbers. However, since I got the pixel, it has a setting to block spam calls, I have not gotten any :)

> How do people even come up with this? Frustration and hours of "fiddling" is my guess, suddenly you did something that worked. The worst is when you can't remember the exact steps! Not that I have this issue myself, I ha

I thought they were valid throughout the volume/radius, but that the solution only gives you the surface area for that radius, not the volume. Perhaps I have misunderstood though as I am just a hobbyist :)

It actually works with "less than words", tokens that can encode either a whole word or part of it. Example might be "you" as a single token, but "craftsmanship" might be 5-10 tokens depending on the encoder. I

To me it actually looks like it just took the dark energy theory and s/expanding/shrinking/g on it. It's even called "isotropic space-time expansion" in many papers.

GPT-4 will also happily invent python libraries that doesn't exist to enable some functionality in the code it produces. I don't think this is a Bard only feature. It's not as bad as the 65B llama model I run on my (amd) PC t

One day it will though. I think we will also see a lot of weights optimisation/pruning and model architecture optimisations that allow them to run on much less hardware.
