I am hoping for a quick and widespread adoption of various mobile devices without Flash and Silverlight support with embedded Opera/Mozila/WebKit as primary web runtimes. I hope Adobe will lead the way and refuse to include Flash support in

Stop bringing up non-web products. This is getting idiotic. Indeed. You still don't get it.

Well, don't build easily reproducible shit then. Become a Photoshop, not Gimp. There isn't anything "as good in every way" as Flickr. And if you give me a crappy toaster as a gift, I'll throw it away and pay for a better one. I don't unders

Again, don't compare non-web products to web based. It is vastly different. No they aren't. Flickr Pro, Quicken, Mac OSX and the toaster in my kitchen are all exactly the same: I saw them, liked them and paid money to get them. Stop think

Good companies can create fanboys and not-so-good can lose them seemingly overnight. Believe it or not, there were quite a few Microsoft fanboys just 10 years ago, I was one of them: it was a great place to work in early 90s and they kicked

I wonder how did .NET thing worked out? Someone decided to bring Anders Hejlsberg on board and give him absolute freedom. It was quite impressive for a company of Microsoft's size to create something like that from scratch.

You don't get it because you haven't lived there. How can you "consider operations" in places that don't have a reliable banking system? Just imagine how it's like (i've seen it first hand: natural exchange + cash in envelopes). How can you

Ubuntu starting with version 7.10 kicks OSX butt when it comes to font rendering. The default setting is not-so-awesome (I suspect to cater to folks transitioning from Windows, since it's a bit Windows-like) but if you configure it to sligh

I disagree. "Web" part is usually just the UI, exactly how the author views it himself. 10 years ago people did that in Visual Basic (yes, it existed for those who don't know and was even more popular), but "heavy lifting in the back end" h
