This is romantic but unrealistic. By its nature, Art tends to resist the isn'ts and shouldn'ts.

My js style began with a heavy usage of classes. I then left that for prototype composition. Recently, I've arrived at a style influenced by Haskell's separation of functions and data - namespaced objects of functions that act on

Om looks interesting for more complex stuff, but I agree with others that the jquery version shown for comparison is a bit baroque. Here's a simpler one for comparison https://gist.github.com/twfarland/9285304 Sho

Agreed. Even the most world-changing idea would only be as strong as its presentation.

Someone should hire you just for your ability to name your projects. "How'd a nitwit like you get so tasteful?"

Excellent point - a formal system can't have 'speed.'

What a beautiful idea. Will a physical copy be available at some time?

I'm an NZ expat who has lived in Berlin for the last few years. While Berlin is cool, let me present a caveat... I've enjoyed the music scene and cheap rent, but have experienced major culture shock. It is a very intense place, full of cont

You don't have to impress anyone. You don't have to 'be' anyone. Be a Cynic, a Hedonist in the Epicurean sense.

Dude. It is ok. The huge valuation these guys had for their flippant startup in 2012 will be of little importance in the long run, and when we are on our deathbeds.

I never give money to beggars after having seen how they operate in Berlin. The standard ones are extremely pushy, and in areas like Ku'damm, there are organised gangs of women who bring their children with them. I've seen them converge and

Estonia is looking quite intriguing... the low/simple tax thing could be quite tempting for those of us sick of the high/ponderous western european taxes.

I'm also a fine arts grad gone tech. I feel like a total outsider in this world but can't help being fascinated by it. I hope that those with an education that emphasises communication and aesthetics can bring something new to the tech worl

I love this kind of thing. I tried something similar a few years ago, after visiting Turkey and seeing their language. I'd had a single character for each sound, though (i.e. 'å' instead of 'ei' for the 'a' sound in 'late').

This is a really nice idea. Reminds me of Guy Steele's 'Growing a language' talk ( http://video.google.de/videoplay?docid=-8860158196198824415 ) and generally of building a formal system by combining primitives.

This wouldn't make css any more powerful than it can be when treated as a compilation target. You can get all the logic you need in a preprocessor embedded in another language, e.g for js I made this: http://github.com/twfarland/son New s

Check this first: http://www.pixelmator.com/ - works like a lighter/prettier Fireworks, currently only 30 bucks, and no annoying licensing thingy. Mac-only, but most designers are on mac anyway.

Glad to see another attempt at this righteous marriage. The piping approach is very tasteful. I tried to get this working with Racket (on osx) but hit too many blocks and ended up going with Gambit, which works well so far.

The currying function shown can be made more flexible: var _slice = Array.prototype.slice; var curry = function() { var args = _slice.call(arguments); return function() { var args2 = _slice.call(arguments);
