   Usefulness of Recall aside, If I wanted to try this out I would definately opt for an OS free alternative.

   Yeah, as long as the data is encrypted that should solve the stolen or lost concern. Wouldn't want my entire history searchable to a malicious party, what a nightmare.

   FOSS is the way to go, to quote Elon Musk: closed source recall is a "Black Mirror Episode"
