What are you talking about? It doesn't have a "browser", it has a testing shell. For a time there was actual attempt with the Verso experiment but it got shelved just recently. Servo is working at being embeddable at the s

Servo was passed onto Linux Foundation and is still being developed, some of its components are shared with Firefox.

Servo is slowly but steadily getting there. The thing with Servo is that it's highly modularized and some of its components are widely used by the larger Rust ecosystem, even it the whole browser engine isn't. So there's mult

Yes and yes. Firefox is partially written in Rust.

Yup, exactly. As a non-native speaker, I phrase things a little differently. Also, I’m used to using em dashes (from academia), but now that's considered an AI tell. Shit's dumb.

I don't know what's the ETA on VLC 4 but it's been entirely usable for me for the past year, and it's pretty cutting edge (internally). Hopefully it's not too long before we'll see beta releases.

Ah! Thanks. It wasn't loading for me for some reason. Yup good plan, tying Pro to cloud features makes sense for subscription model.

Would you mind elaborating on "I decided to make Daino Notes closed source due to difficulties in monetizing FOSS" ?. How do you plan to monetize this?

Most def. It's ALL Rust underneath, the PyQT gui (on desktop) is basically a legacy compat layer, mostly because they need to support vast amount of add-ons, and the editor is quite complicated piece of UI.

The PyQt GUI is still meh but overall it's much better (and nowadays much much faster). I think it's still unnecessary crufty and unfriendly in places. That being said I wrote both web and TUI front-ends and it can definitely be s

I think that many devs missed the fact that Anki went through major rewrite and all of its business logic/its brain/api are now contained in few rust crates. They're a pleasure to work with and it's very easy to write al

Linux is not monolithic, if you have a buggy component you can replace it. With the exception of the kernel of course. I think we're entering the era of personal desktops.

Not all code written by humans is deterministic and reliable. And properly guard-railed LLM can check its output, you can even employ several, for higher consensus certainty. And we're just fuckin starting.

my solution to this is to have centralised VPN splitter (x-ray/singbox) sitting on RPi, with tailscale attached to it. This makes it available from anywhere if the device is on TS network. With added benefit of rule based geo splitting
