It is not a trend, it is just people comparing a new tool to known tools.

(the site is currently unavailable) Has there been confirmation at WWDC that this will remain enabled through the final release of iOS8?

Note that near the top of "A Swift Tour" there is a link to the playground which you can download and open in Xcode 6.

I don't think the `dark mode` is in the beta, or if it is I can't seem to find it.

You are not alone but you are probably in the minority. (quick edit: You saw a lot of Apple news because the WWDC keynote was today)

I don't like it either, but that kind talk that has been around for as long as people have had something to sell.

I believe RadiumOne and Mozilla responded to PR problems, not to the actions of their CEOs.

Yeah, I came across `natpmpc` when I discovered the Airport Express at the office does not support uPNP. Our new Asus N66U supports NAT-PMP so I thought maybe it was more common these days.

FWIW, if you just want to forward a port you can run: natpmpc -a 9077 9000 tcp 36000 which will forward 9077 to 9000 for 3600 seconds.

It does bother me that Homebrew advocates using /usr/local, that is a choice that needs justification and I don't believe they offer anything convincing. That said, you can configure homebrew to use any path (check the wiki),

`ls -G` will show colors with BSD ls, much like `ls --color' with GNU ls.

I have knowingly tracked my location with Moves for the past year, but it is still very spooky to see all of that information on one map. Well done though. Now we just need some kind of free/OSS clone of Moves so this is a little less

Well, sure, if you think of Jobs as nothing but a slick salesman then you just don't have a very high opinion of the guy in the first place.

No, you don't have to add a new entry every time, you just set it up and now absolutely.anything.dev points to localhost. When editing /etc/hosts you have to add a line for every hostname.

On a much larger scale there is Ringworld , which incorporated a Dyson Ring, which is a variation on a Dyson Sphere[1], which was apparently inspired by a 1937 novel (according to the Wikipedia link). [1] http://en.wikipedia.org

Yeah, I purchased Civ V a while ago but I can't bring myself to actually play it. I think I'm too old to lose 4 hours to a game that gives me no real benefit.

To me that makes it clear that a minimum size of over 20M is a serious problem. How crazy would it be if the Twitter app was over 50M, or Facebook Messenger over 80M?

I could be mistaken (as I haven't actually researched this), but I don't think there is any way around needing OSX to package for iOS. Even tools like cordova/phonegap hook into a base Xcode project when it comes to compilin

Why would it? edit: To expand on that a bit, I was under the impression that the Android app ecosystem was far more ad-driven than the iOS app ecosystem. At least it seems as if iOS usually offers a ad-supported free version and an ad-free
