Out of curiosity, what do you do in a terminal? I ask because I used Linux as my primary desktop for about 7 years before moving to OSX in '06, and since then I've been using Terminal somewhat exclusively (except for the occasional peek at

No new news, just a job listing. edit: Meaning, this is a job listing that could normally apply to a MobileMe position, but given recent speculation about apple expanding their "cloud", the job listing is used as fuel for that fire.

I've been using list/listchars for a few years and have come to really like it: set listchars=tab:»·,trail:· set list That will show tabs with a little double arrow and trailing dots, and show whitespace past the end of the line wi

You may want to view the Calcbot demo here: http://tapbots.com/software/calcbot/#overview It's nothing revolutionary, but they did go above and beyond the typical calculator app with their tape history. In other words, I'd agree with yo

I love the lack of points showing when it comes to Apple discussions.

I once saw pg comment that it was the simplest solution that worked. Granted, pg's primary role is not as a web developer, hence his simplest solution is not what mine would be.

Apple does a good job of proving their own point when it comes to their Windows software and cross-platform apps.

HN needs collapsable threads. I toyed with a greasemonkey script that would do this but the somewhat "super pragmatic" layout makes it less than simple.

Holy crap, thank you. Screencasts are great and all but I'll take text over video almost anytime when it comes to programming tutorials. On a related note, I was recently directed to http://asciicasts.com/ for railscasts in text format..

Interesting, having built Django apps for a few years now I haven't noticed this ravenous Django fanboyism myself, but I'm about to start a full time job working with Rails so maybe I'll catch some flak as I mix my community participation a

So, "drag and drop" out of iPhoto isn't what you want, and you don't want to just use the "open file" dialog from another OSX app (since that lets you access all parts of the iPhoto library), and then you don't like how you have to click do

Are you sure iPhoto still has a 'reveal in finder' option? I"m not seeing it... Though I don't know why you'd need it with iPhoto since you can just DnD photos out to the desktop (or wherever) if you want to work on them.

I remember the tweet, I just wasn't sure what point you were making by quoting it. But this does say that by Andy Rubin's own definition of "open", Honeycomb is not "open". Unless there is some big part of this discussion/argument I'm miss
