Honestly, I don't know. I think I read it somewhere, as explanation for why python is so slow. It made sense to me, that it must be language features. I hope there's someone on HN who can explain it.

Nodejs is incredible fast for a interpreted language. It is only ~4 times slower than Rust and only a bit slower than Go or Java (compiled GC languages) in the benchmarks. Compare that with Python 3, also interpreted but ~30 times slower t

Are there any languages that provides memory leak safety, so that the compiled binary is guaranteed to be memory leak free?

Maybe there will be a company like Red Hat that announces to support python 2.7 indefinitely, although I doubt it.

But why? WSL1 was something like wine but reverse, but WSL2 is actually linux.

Wrapper functions. If you want to extend or modify the functionality of already existing tools, but without altering them too much, so it wouldn't be worth to be a new tool on its own.

Can't remember the Headline, but it was something regarding Microkernel usage on constrained devices. In case the most stripped down version of linux does not fit.

Nintendo has used microkernels for the Nintendo Switch, I think it would be interesting to see if microkernels would also fit for the N64 or similar constrained devices.

Sure, for most (including myself) it's impossible to review every little update. But the bug tracker of your distro is a good indicator if some of the most recent updates created a bunch of new tickets, especially those that are consid

Some people only have one server for a particular use case. And servers might not always break in predictable/alertable ways.

True, the Pi 4 with 8GB RAM would allow for 8 TB max recommended storage per node. Thus, requires you to have 7 Pis for 56 TB. I think that's still a good setup, even with 1GE. btw, 10GE is the minimum requirement for a non-hobby ceph

Sorry but, Wisp already exists, twice! It's Lisp without parentheses: http://dustycloud.org/blog/wisp-lisp-alternative/ and a little Clojure-like LISP in JavaScript: https://github.com/Gozala&

Ah okay, I somehow thought that Nintendo had used microkernels on other devices too, not just the Switch. The Nintendo Switch is certainly not a constrained device.

You could buy drives with higher capacity, then you need fewer RPI, fewer cables, consume less space/energy and still achieve 55 TiB capacity.

The problem is that you can only slim down linux so much. If the tiniest possible linux does not fit on your chip, then it simply does not fit, end of the story for linux in this case. However, there are tiny microkernels e.g. with less tha
