Unfortunately the number of people who would pay for both an Apollo subscription AND their own Reddit use AND would be willing to obtain and enter an API key is effectively zero.

What? There are many people who pay to use Christian's app specifically to interact with Reddit. If Apollo suddenly switched to another social network, it would make a lot of people understandably angry

This looks like a great improvement over the Quest 2! It will be interesting to see Apple's headset in comparison. Beyond the obvious price difference, I'm guessing Apple will focus more on personal communication (FaceTime) and pr

Indeed—Chris Lattner has mentioned recently that in retrospect, he regrets certain Swift design decisions which have made the compiler so complex and relatively slow.

I hear you, ideally the compiler should be able to manage any arbitrary input in a reasonable time, and catch itself if necessary. Usually it does—sometimes with complex ungrouped arithmetic operations with ambiguous types, Swift will error

I have no idea what's going on under the hood, but I'm sure it's not a linear time process, and all it takes is one of those elements to be "109.1" to flip 1M elements from Ints to Doubles. Yes, they could special-c

Right, but unlike Swift, the type system in JS is not doing computationally expensive type checking for each element. This is the equivalent of creating 1M DOM trees in JS and expecting it to be responsive. Rather than trying to force Swift

Virtually every word has edge cases and gray areas, so there can be no 1:1 correlation between language and the world. Think of something as basic as "chair." Is a love seat a couch or a chair, or both? What about a bench? A stool

One well-supported theory for how humans learn language and knowledge is Relational Frame Theory (RFT)[0]. Essentially, when we learn that an elephant is larger than a mouse, we're learning a relationship ("more") and a dimen

We can move the fill to the style attribute and get it back down to 114: <svg viewBox="-32 -32 64 64" style="background:#f60;fill:#fff"><path d="m0-5-8-12h-7L-3 1v16h6V1l12-18H8z"/><
