It's not Common Lisp, or Scheme, but it's a "Lisp" in the sense that it is a dynamic language with properties in the spirit of the original LISPs, with the notable exception of not writing directly in the abstract syntax tree. I wouldn't ac

QWERTY was designed as a compromise between speed and jams. Characters which are frequently used as pairs together are placed on opposite sides, one for each hand. This has the effect of letting you use both hands pretty frequently. One of

Piano is actually somewhat notorious for being excessively baroque and difficult to play at the higher skill levels, the keyboard having been originally designed to play only in a single key with a different tuning system.

Python is a Lisp where the interface to everything is a domain-specific language that visually resembles simple imperative programming. If Python has fixed anything, it has been because of its roots as a teaching language, with a culture fo

You can actually encode his example in just regular Haskell98 using type classes, without having to use GADTs: http://www.cs.rutgers.edu/~ccshan/tagless/jfp.pdf Though, it comes with some loss of clarity. And might hurt your brain.

WebCore (the actual rendering fundamentals itself) was open source before WebKit (the bigger chunk of code that makes up more of a browser's features). When code was released back to KHTML, it came in big chunks with large changes because W

Maybe you're forgetting some history. When Apple announced Safari, people said it was completely stupid to not choose the Gecko engine. People said that the KHTML engine was totally immature and progressing slowly. Why on earth would you pi

I'll have to check it out. I don't think I've used a keyboard with Topre switches since they are even more exotic than Alps, and I had assumed they wouldn't be much better.

I'd really like to see a more powerful web interface to Hackage. For example, if I'm looking to pick out a library to use for something, I'd like to be able to filter the listings down to just the ones that build on GHC 6.12. Or the ones th

Cool. Is there a way (or can you add a way) to link people to expressions? For example, if I want to show someone :t (id >=> id), could I just give them a URL somehow?

I've been using mine on and off since the release day. I think it's a fun toy. And most people use their computers as toys, so I believe it will continue to do quite well, until someone copies Apple exactly enough and at a lower price.

Do you have any statistics to back up the claim that AA works? I've seen several people end up in AA; all of them are still addicts to this day. I've never seen any numbers that can show it does any good.

Oops, you're right, the other phones are not AMOLED. I had assumed they were, for some reason. I don't doubt the resolution on the iPhone HD/4g will be better than the Nexus One. I just don't think that the non-rectangular pixel grid on the

I love my Nexus One's screen (AMOLED.) Android 2.2 corrected a lot of color calibration problems present when it was released, so the red/warm caste is mostly gone. The colors seem 'cartoonish' at first, since the contrast ratio is so ridic
