Given the four rotor stability, this seems like more of an interesting perception problem than a control problem. See http://heli.stanford.edu/ for examples of the latter.

It's true, but since everybody has access to the test images (so they can label them), and the models (through google earth), it seems like anybody can train whatever algorithm they want on the same set.

I'm not sure how the example could make the assertion fail; I think that the point is that if 3.3 is treated as a long double by the compiler, then the result of x*3.3 will be a long double, which is more precise than the double returned by

Although you're right that websites might have access if you use the same password for everything, in this case even if you use all different passwords, you're completely blown if somebody gets the gmail password, because they can just rese

This is true; one of the points the article was making is that the current definition of polymath is much weaker than the one we had even a hundred years ago. The GP is probably referring to that one.

Since this is an opinion poll, it should have the "It doesn't matter" option. That's the one I'd go for.

I was under the impression that time.sleep'ing all over the place was the only way to let threads do their work in python because that's one of the few ways to release the GIL. Is there some other way to get this done (that doesn't involve

How did you manage to translate "Although rare, severe respiratory illness (pneumonia) and deaths have been reported with flu infections in children" to such a broad, absolute statement like "you have fever, headaches, sore throat, but one

The fact that you don't have to provide a social security number doesn't say anything about the privacy guaranteed by flickr; if they keep logs of IPs, uploaders can be traced by location, which can often be mapped to a specific person.

Oh, come on. There's the good kind of can-do attitude, which is useful, and then this kind, where if you think you want something enough, anything can happen. Consider how much effort had to go into just putting a man on the moon, and compa

The instructor for our discrete math class has a most hilarious way of catching cheaters: he sets up trap sites regarding the problems that he googlebombs to be on the front page of the results. Every student signed a document at the beginn

Not that the actual research part has paid off, but companies like Anybots have been much more successful in their bipedal research efforts (see Dexter @ http://anybots.com/abouttherobots.html ) than many academic labs, much less other com

People simply wanting it doesn't make it important or useful in objective terms. Diggers, for example, really keep up with the service, even though a) almost all of the stories are a waste of time and b) almost all of the commenters are h
